Jacob London's Journal
Written Sep 2, 2013 7:47amThis past week flew by. Jacob is staying busy with work, appointments and mastering a new COD game. A few weeks back, he asked for his gaming controllers that were at our home, I did not think of it much; just brought them back with me on my next trip. Last week when returning from home, I found Jacob playing his new game, with a combination of the mouse he purchased a few months ago, and the controller from home. Jacob reconfigured the controller to operate as needed. He located some velcro and was operating the controller with his left hand, while using the mouse with his right, playing the game like a pro.
Other activities from the week. Jacob spent Friday night through Sunday morning on his own. This is another first. I think I was more concerned than he was. Sunday we went to a Brewers game and then dinner with a group of Jacob's college friends.
Jacob's follow up appointments went well, we are now waiting for healing, and will start the rest of the dental work late September. Jacob misses the ability to bit into a sandwich. Other items, we keep looking for ways to improve on his condition though adjusting his medications, vitamins and routine. I'm very careful not to do to much at the same time, understanding that we may cause an undesired effect and will need to identify how to correct it.
Did not hear from the DVR this week. Patiently waiting.
Written Aug 26, 2013 4:43amJacob had another active weekend. Friday night he went to a cook out at a friends lake house in Beaver Dam. The group enjoyed the summer evening, some road a jet ski, had good food, and watch the football game, outside by the lake. Saturday, we took a trip to Milwaukee and spent three hours at the Ford dealer, looking at vehicles and picking out Jacob's ride once the DVR gets back to him. Sunday, Jacob went to the Mayville Gun Club with a group of friends and shot a 410 at clay pigeons.
On top of all this, we saw Levi off Saturday morning, he went back to college. He arrived safe and sound late Sunday afternoon.
This week Jacob had his second of three appointments working on his gums. This week was much easier on him. Next week is just pulling stitches and a follow up with the oral surgeon.
DVR confirmed receiving Jacob's vehicle information and they have submitted it for approval. Jacob should hear back in the near future.
Started the process for Jacob's first 6 month revaluation at Craig's Hospital. It seams like we just left. His first revaluation is schedule for late October.
Written Aug 18, 2013 7:58amJacob indicated that the truck show was lots of fun. Levi and his uncle Dennis went with him. They saw a lot of really decked-out trucks. They stayed out to 10pm on Friday night, the latest Jacob has been out to date. Rachel visited with Jacob and Levi on Saturday because Levi leaves soon for his third year of college and Rachel starts her forth year of college. Lastly, one of Jacob's college friends stopped by and they went to a movie on Sunday. Active weekend.
Jacob had his first of three appointments working on his gums last Thursday. It was a more intrusive than I thought, but Jacob pushed through it, all the same. Per the doctor, the next two weeks will not be as bad. Jacob struggled on Thursday with considerable nerve pain on top of the dental work.
I was able to get the three adaptive driving quotes last week and forward them on to the DVR on Friday. Looking forward to finding out what happens next.
We are continued to be blessed by everyone's support for Jacob. Thanks you all.
