Hello, friends and family. We hope everyone is doing well. It’s been a while since we’ve written on the website, but we wanted to let you know of a special thing that Jackson’s school, Hoosier Road Elementary, did last week. Jackson’s second grade classmates and teacher, Mrs. Havens, had a dedication ceremony for a memorial area that’s been created near the entrance of the school in memory of Jackson. We’ve put some photos of the dedication on the site.
It was lightly raining, so the program was held inside in the music room. One of Jackson's classmates read a poem called "We Think of You Today" to start the program. Mrs. Havens read another poem titled "Pennies from Heaven," which was saying that if you find a penny it is Jackson saying hello from Heaven.
Mrs. Havens and all of Jackson's classmates read their own tributes to Jackson via an acrostic of J-A-C-K-S-O-N. Many words were expressed - a few examples are Joyful, Active, Always happy, Caring, Cool, King of Math, Smart, Silly, On the go, Never forgotten, Never mad...
Jackson's classmates then sang "You've Got a Friend in Me" led by music teacher Mrs. Londino.
Everyone then gathered outside, and another classmate read another poem titled "Gifts of Love," and then the memorial was dedicated. At the conclusion of the dedication, everyone launched a balloon that had a personal note to Jackson attached. After a few minutes and the balloons were no longer in sight, one of the kids said "I guess all the balloons made it to Heaven."
You’ll notice in the photos that there are stone around the statue. Each of Jackson’s classmates decorated on a stepping stone. Paul, Alison and Olivia each decorated on a stone too.
Thank you so much to HoosierRoadElementary School, Principal Mrs. Spence, and Jackson's teacher, Mrs. Havens for facilitating the memorial and the dedication ceremony.
Alison and Paul continue to take one day at a time. They miss Jackson very much. They are joining a support group called Compassionate Friends, which is a group for parents who have lost a child. It meets once a month.
Olivia is also attending a support group that is for children who have lost a sibling. It’s an opportunity for the children to express their emotions in via several creative outlets.
Paul and Alison want to thank everyone for their ongoing prayers and support.
