My Name is Ian. I am a very special guy. My sister calls me "Ian Dude". Mommy and Daddy created this site to let you know how I am doing. You can read my full story below. You can also check back to read journal updates and see pictures of me. If you would like to be notified when my journal is updated, just check the box below. Thanks for visiting!

We are finally home! We got home yesterday afternoon. I would have updated the journal sooner, but all of us came down with Ian's nasty virus. It hit me yesterday morning in the hospital, then my mom around noon, and James and Ava got it last night. I don't think I have ever been so sick! Fortunately, I think it is short-lived as I am already feeling much better and James and Ava seem to be turning the corner too. I wasn't sure I would make it home from the hospital yesterday without needing to pull over. How pathetic we all are lately! I am hoping and praying for good health to come to our household soon. Ian is still having diarrhea and some vomiting, but seems to be getting a little better. They attempted to do the swallow study yesterday morning, but he was just too wiped out and wouldn't accept anything in his mouth. We will have to go back in a couple weeks when he is fully recovered and will hopefully cooperate. So still no answers, other than we know he has a structural abnormality of his esophagus. We don't know what it is caused by or if it can be repaired. We have a follow-up scheduled with the GI doc on the 11th. We will probably need to head down to UCSF or Stanford to get a second opinion as the docs here don't seem to know where to steer us. The doc's do feel strongly that this is a likely cause of his frequent respiratory infections.

We are exhausted, a bit frustrated, but very glad to be home.
