My Story

Hello, my name is Hunter, I am 12 years old. I live in Virginia at Smith Mountain Lake. Last year I began to attend Faith Christian School. I love swimming and anything at all if it means being outdoors. My teacher at Faith Christian School nick named me "The Gentle Giant". In the full story my Dad will relay what happened to me on June 28th 2008.

This past Sunday marked one year since Hunters accident. It was filled with memories of Hunters growth through the last months and also great loss to our family. On Saturday the police officer who was with us the day of the accident came by on boat. He talked with Carl and asked how he and Hunter were doing. It was hard for Carl to see him again and brought back a lot of memories from that day. On Sunday morning Hunter and Carl went out Kayaking together. Carl and Hunter went by the dock that Hunter hit. Carl went up close and saw that there were bolts sticking out of the dock every four feet along the side of the dock. Again, I am reminded of how good God is, Hunter hit his head between the bolts. When they were done kayaking they both went swimming, I looked out the window and could not believe my eyes, Carl had taught Hunter how to dive again. On Saturday it bothered Hunter that all the boys were diving off the dock and he couldn’t. Hunter just keeps amazing me with his determination and drive.

We visited Roanoke Memorial Hospital, What a blessing to see the Doctor and nurses that meant so much to us during our stay there. The Lord had really blessed our time at Roanoke Memorial with such godly men and women there impact in our lives will never be forgotten.

We spent the rest of the day together as a family with my parents, sister and nephew. The Lord chooses the day and time for everything. My beloved Uncle Dan was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this month. He took a turn for the worst on Friday, and passed away on Sunday. I have such beautiful memories of him teaching me how to water ski when I was little. He was a wonderful example of a loving father, husband, uncle and friend to those he was around. I will never forget June 28 because of Hunters accident but now I will always be reminded to pray for my Aunt and Cousins and family. The Lord has only made this day even more important to me so that those I love will be in my thoughts and lifted up to the Father in prayer.

Thank you to everyone for all your prayers, support, love, and time that you have spent with our family. Thank you also to the many people that I only know through your messages on this web page. You all have blessed us this past year with more love and kindness then one could ever believe possible.  May the Lord bless you all in your daily lives.
