My Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge site for Hue White. We've created it to keep friends and family updated as Dad goes through his treatment & recovery process. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

The current chapter in Hue's story began when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early November.  His medical care started out bumpy, but with the help of Renate (Hue's son-in-law's mother, who is an interventional radiologist & all-around loving, caring person), his own patience & perseverance, and devoted family, he found Piper Cancer Institute & MN Oncologists, and entered a promising clinical trial.  Now he is mid-treatment & rolling along.

Early in this process, Barb, his wife of 50+ years, was hospitalized twice with serious infections.  Because this weakened her seriously and Hue had been her primary caregiver for 15 years, the two of them agreed that she needed intense physical therapy & occupational therapy to recover some functioning and strength.  So she has become a patient at Augustana Short-term Rehabilitation in Apple Valley, MN, a 10 minute drive from their home.

Hue can visit Barb since she is close, but the visits are short due to his need to rest and her intense therapy program. So he loves visits, phone calls & emails from everyone! And he can often be caught cuddling any one of their four cats :)
