Hello friends and family, it's unfortunate I have to update this page after a decade of surviving Breast Cancer but the beast is back.  My breast cancer has come back as metastasized brain cancer.  Please follow my progress as I begin the marathon of my life.  I have an incredible team at KU Med that I have the utmost confidence are prioritizing my health and helping me navigate my health plan regarding my new diagnosis during this already difficult time.  Thank you for the outpouring of love, care and concern and positive energy.  I appreciate you!

Journal entry by Hollie Pickert

Hi Everyone,
I have some sad news to share.  I learned this week that my breast cancer has come back and has spread to my brain.  I haven't been feeling well for several months, but this diagnosis comes as a shock to me.  I will start the first of 10 radiation treatments to my brain on Monday.  Next week I will have a PET scan to check to see if other areas of my body have been affected and then a biopsy to collect cells to help my oncologist at KU develop an individualized treatment plan.

I appreciate all of the supportive calls and texts I have received from family and friends in the recent days.  I am still processing this diagnosis and what it will mean for me, my girls and Andy moving forward.  It can be overwhelming to update everyone individually, so i hope to regularly share updates here to keep you informed.
