Heather Sonner's Journal
SHE DID IT!
Written Apr 12, 2013 2:06pmYesterday we heard the most wonderful news! The doctor entered the room and told Heather "Congratulations you are officially done with your treatment and Cancer Free." The doctor was amazed by what she called Heather, "the rapid responder" patient. Heather has been such an amazing, strong young lady. I have been enlightened by her strength, courage and fighting power. The quote that I have read many times says "You don't know how strong you are until strong is the only choice you have!" She remained strong and positive almost the whole time. She has proven to herself that she is a fighter and a winner. She has shown her siblings that you can prevail through the most difficult of times.
Again, while I know Heather did all of the hard work, our family has been blessed in many ways. We are blessed by the fact that she is healthy again knowing that many others we know and love have not been able to overcome their illnesses. We are blessed by such supportive friends and family who made this journey so much easier than it could be. And lastly, we are blessed because we get to look to the future and all of the amazing things that Heather is going to accomplish in her lifetime because she has been given that chance.
A very heartfelt thank you to everyone, as a small tear runs down my cheek because to this day, Heather will not allow me to shed a tear in front of her.
Thank you from the Sonner Family. We are forever grateful.
Written Apr 1, 2013 6:47pmI know it has been a long time since I have updated this site but things have been moving fast around the Sonner house. Heather completed her last treatment today. She has been one tough girl....fighting through the pain of treatment, nausea, and not feeling well. Things went completely as planned with all of her treatments. She had 4 rounds of chemotherapy which included 16 treatments. She will have a follow up PETSCAN next week April 10th to make sure that the Cancer is 100% gone but her doctor is already 99.9% positive that she has kicked @@@! Thank you again to everyone for all of your support. We love you all. Heather is resting now and will be down for a few days until she gets her strength back again. Tears of complete joy are being shared today! God bless her and all the strength she shared with all of us.
Written Feb 11, 2013 11:33amDear friends and family,
Heather continues to fight like an amazing girl. She recently started her third round of chemo on Friday. We also received her newest petscan results and the chemo is working! There is no longer any detectable sign of activity on the lymph nodes in her neck and things have significantly shrunk in the other areas. We are so happy with her progress. We are anticipating that she will only need 4 rounds of chemotherapy as she continues to do so well. Thank you again to everyone who continues to support our family in praying for us, bringing us food, and showing your love. We are so grateful to have you all.
