My Story

On Feb 2, 2007, at the age of 3, Haidyn was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. We are all looking forward to April 2009 when her treatment ends.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain.

On Friday, Haidyn and Kenna went to the clinic for her first monthly blood counts check.

Since the port is now out, they have to draw blood from her arm, which she hasn’t had done since Feb 2, 2007 – the day she was diagnosed. Fortunately the process was not a big deal for Haidyn and the counts were considerably better than they were that day 2.5 years ago.

Actually the counts were right where they should be…climbing up.  As I understand it, it takes her bone marrows a number of months to rebound back from all the abuse they have taken from the chemo.  It looks like hers are back in action and pumping out those reds and whites and hemoglobins (and whatever else is in there).

So it was a successful and uneventful visit.  Just like it is supposed to be.
