My Story

My name is Ginny-Beth Joiner and I am 27 years old. I work at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah as the Director of Student Life-- far from my home of DeLand, FL.

I was diagnosed with "Large B-Cell Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma" in Dec 2007. If you want something a little easier to say, it's cancer of the lymphatic system.

As of June I have completed active treatment!

Ciao!

I know it's been a while (or forever to some people) since I updated, but I haven't had too much to update until recently.

Big news #1: As of my last appointment with Dr. Legant, I am officially in remission! Yay!  I have my next scan in June and after that one I will only be having regular CT Scans, no more PETs.

Big news #2: I am leaving Friday and heading to Europe.  It's not forever and it's not (just) for fun.  I'm actually teaching a field study class for our "May Term".  It's comparing the European education system to our own.  I've got 2 co-faculty and 24 students heading out with me.  We'll be visiting Spain, Italy and Greece and will be gone May 8th-25th. I'm so very excited about this!  I had been scheduled to do another, similar trip last summer but because of my treatment schedule, I was unable to go.

Other than that, all is well on the western front. I'll update with pictures when I get back home at the end of the month.

Love to you all! GBJ

I love hearing from all of you and am constantly amazed by the time and energy that you all have spent in thoughts and prayers for me and my family. Even at this early stage, I am already more grateful to you than you will ever know! Thank you!!!
