I just read of Gaye's passing and am truly saddened.  Although Gaye was not able to join us here in Mexico, I felt connected to her in the few conversations we had while planning her vacation here and immediately felt her warmth and lively spirit.  Our prayers are with Sam and all her friends who must feel the loss so terribly.  I am confident that Gaye is now free to visit us any time she wants to and I will think of her often.

Dearest Sam and Cousins,

We share the deepest grief. I don't quite know what to say, other than I am sending you my love. I pray that eventually happy memories of Gaye--and the love-- will push the saddest memories away.

I am thankful for the time we had together in Florida.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Sam,

I learned the sad news of Gaye's passing and my deepest sympathies are being sent to you.  Gaye and I shared the loveliest of names bound by family ties to our mutual grandmother on my mom's side.

We so enjoyed spending the two days with you and Gaye when we were in Homer on our Kenai Peninsula land tour a few years ago.  I smile at the memories and hope that you, too, will smile at the memories you shared with your Gaye.

Take care.

Fondly,
Gaye

Sam,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.....She was loved by all...my fondest memory was of her on last First Friday when she danced, laugh at her wonderful hippy outfit.  She was beautiful, happy and just Gaye!
I will miss her.
Love to you

Sam, our sunny day in South Florida has been shadowed by the news of Gaye's passing.  Her sparkling eyes and warm smile are a vivid memory for us.  We remember fondly your West Palm Beach days and our visit to see you and Gaye in Homer.

Our thoughts are with you.

Hey Sam,
I cannot be as poetic as others in this guestbook, but they speak my sympathies to you and my sense grief at Gaye's loss from our physical world, and deep appreciation for her ever willingness to share her gifts of creativity, art, and generosity with me and a wider community than i am aware of.
Sam, thank you so much for being willing to share the daily progress/changes that have occurred as Gaye moved gracefully along her exit journey from this world.
Also greatest thanks to those others who also provided a loving and  sustaining human presence with Gaye!
There can be a blissful connection hidden in deep grief---may you Sam, and each of us know that moment too.

Dear Gaye,
I'll always picture you standing in the sun, speaking with such heartfelt passion to Shasta and me at our wedding. Thank you for your strong spirit, your love of Sam, your many gifts to Homer and your friends.  You have left us all so much richer. Your spirit lives on among all who have loved and been loved by you.  We promise to keep an eye on Sam, but I doubt we'll be able to keep him in line, not that you would want that.
Thank you Diane and Mavis and Ruby and the others for watching after Gaye.  Thank you Sam for sharing Gaye with us.
Love you,
Art

Sam,
In darkness,

The beauty of stars and constellations

Will be admired all the more now

Your dearest Gaye is up there

Shining like a bright star.

I was so shocked and I am ever saddened by her leaving us, but I guess some one else has a more important job for her.

One more thing.  This experience has shown me the great importance of a living will.  Hospice of Homer recommends Five Wishes ... google it.  It is good in Alaska and most other states and it covers end of life wishes concerning not just the medical, but the spiritual and personal too.
Check it out .... Ruby

Last night I read to Gaye.  It was an honor to read all the messages of this blog to her.  She would smile with the mention of each name.  The cranes, art work, Sam on the ukulele, Diane tending to her... It was a Good goodbye.
