On October 5, 2005, everything changed. Our beautiful 17 month old daughter, Gabriella went from being 'the child that required the least fuss' of all the 8 children we had, to requiring, undivided, 24 hour care, 7 days per week. Read

Hi all; it's Gabi's dad. I'm sorry it's been so long since we have posted. It's all Jeanne's fault! J I'm teasing. I'm the one that has promised to do it twice already. We were so busy for a while then just got out of the habit.

Anyways, Gabi is doing okay. She continues to have seizures daily but thankfully most have been the milder ones that don't require bagging. We have to pay really close attention so we can catch them when they first begin. Most of the ones that require resuscitation can’t be stopped, but the ones that can be stopped turn into the bad ones if we don’t catch them. She has had four that I have been able to stimulate her out of just since I started writing this entry (make that five – she just had another). It takes a lot of vigilance though so please pray that God will continue to give us the strength.

Now for the good part: In the last couple weeks she has started verbalizing a lot of sounds, and noticing herself in the mirror. She watches herself as she makes the sounds and knows that it’s her in the mirror. She is throwing the ball with purpose and her hand/eye coordination has greatly improved. The biggest thing though is that she has two new words that besides “hey”. Hey is still her favorite, but she has finally started saying mom and mama again. As you can imagine Jeanne was on top of the world and has appreciated it even more this time around. She also says “more more more”. She has been able to sign it since she was two, but now she says it out loud. Like I said earlier she is verbalizing lots of other sounds and many of those seem to be words she is trying to say. One of her favorite other words is dam. We aren’t sure what she is trying to say but maybe she just wants to be a civil engineer J

There is a lot to celebrate but please continue your prayers. She has now had a total of nine seizures while I have been writing this. Please pray for complete and total healing and for God to continue to give us the strength to carry on until then. Hopefully it won’t be so long before we post something again.

God bless you,

Earl
