Hi from windy springy (wet) NW lower Michigan,
Latest CT shows no change from 10/07! Since I've now passed my 2 year treatment anniversary, I am free for whole year from CT scans! Thanks to Rocky for my box o' chocolates celebrating that it's been 2 years since I could only smell the chocolates I had along with me to MOAS in PA. Cindy and I were just laughing about the nurses at UPMC being shocked when I asked for my chocolates, then amused when I held them up for a deep whiff!
My love for chocolate is possibly inherited. Our mom often made homemade fudge, and our dad usually had a box of chocolate bars on the porch closet shelf. Mom and Dad would give us boxes of chocolates at Christmas- Cindy and I always tried sniffing out the maple cremes... and chocolate covered maple crème Easter eggs were favorites, too... We had a rough time emotionally last month when my mom passed away, but her last meal was a chocolate kiss and ¾ of a peppermint patty.
The past couple of months I've been dealing off and on with pain that seems to be from a partial intestinal blockage. It's been pretty strong lately, so I limited my diet to softs (you know, chocolate bars, hot chocolate, chocolate ice bean, along with liquidy oatmeal, pureed soups and fruit smoothies). Then when I saw the local doc this week, I received a prescription for a med to help relax the intestine, and he thought going on clear liquids would be more effective. So, I've been having broth, fruit and vegetable juices, and, I confess, chocolate bar pieces... just a couple – pieces, not bars -:-)– a day, and none today so far. My “big brother” cousin Allen, a homeopathic practitioner, also gave me some remedies which I think are helping. I'm also doing self-care using therapeutic/healing touch, lying in a reverse slant position, and very gentle yoga stretches.
I haven't been able to go in and teach, but I've been grannying as much as possible. Connor loves being 5, losing his first tooth, and able to be so independent as well giving such sweet affection. The babies are all growing. Now 15mo Liam is getting more teeth and jabbering constantly, and we can understand so many words from him. Kim and Sam are 6 mos today, and rocking and rolling and scootching all over the place, and they're all laughing, happy kids. I'm reminded of a line from a Deidre McCalla's song, 'got my family 'round me; I am truly blessed'.
Love, Fran
