Fairlight Lorraine Lucia January 22, 1945 – October 9, 2007 Fairlight Lucia, born to the name Susan “Suzy” Lorraine Daskam, age 62, passed away peacefully and began her next grand adventure on October 9, 2007 at 8:44 AM in the loving presence and home of her son, Anthony Craig Hatfield and her daughter-in-law, Gina Rene Murphy-Hatfield. She was born in San Luis Obispo, California on January 22, 1945 to Myron “Mike” William Daskam and Ida Lucile Daskam (Maiden Name “Gish”) and was an only child.

Fairlight earned the degree of Master of Science in 1988, though she was arguably prouder of her accomplishment as a Master Gardener. Fairlight was a warden of the planet, terribly concerned and supportive of solutions regarding sustainable agriculture and organic farming. She strived to minimize pollution, oil use, water use and, in general, to avoid excessive
consumption of our planet’s resources. She realized the earth was not to be taken for granted, not be abused, but rather a resource to be cherished and loved. Fairlight was also a vocal proponent for peace and the ending of all war. She supported the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) organization and
modeled nonviolent behavior consistently. She detested President Bush’s national and global policies.

Fairlight is survived by her two sons, Anthony Craig Hatfield of Grand Junction, Colorado and Andrew Wade Hatfield of Tokyo, Japan; and two grandchildren, Selena Rose Hatfield and Alexander Daniel Hatfield both of Grand Junction, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents. “Mom’s positive energy, honest expression, and true caring for the planet and all its inhabitants left their mark on all who knew her. Her presence chased away the darkness and helped us all to see the brilliant light, love and potential to make positive difference that lives within us all,” said Anthony. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be returned to the earth in a small private ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the to seed bank Native Seeds SEARCH ww.nativeseeds.org or to another environmentally supportive organization. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO, 81505.
