Hello everyone! We have a lot of good news to tell. Most importantly, Ethan's blood tests yesterday showed that he is indeed tolerating this outpatient chemo very well. That means no more shots at home (YIPPEE!) and no more panic when he is exposed to the bugs Sam brings home from Kindergarten. I hope this isn't too much information, but he is also diarrhea-free for the first time in 8 months. Although his white blood cell count is still under the norm, it is higher than it has been for months, and platelets and red blood cells are actually within the range of a normal person. Whew. He had a slight temperature on Sunday evening, but when we brought him in to the hospital on Monday they said that it was nothing to worry about and that we should think of him as a normal little boy with a little cold. Wow. I haven't thought about the word "normal" in connection with Ethan for quite some time. I'll even be able to take him with us to a birthday party for one of Sam's friends. I'm sure Ethan will love being with so many kids. We had a strange situation the other day-- Ethan lifted up Sam's shirt, looked puzzled, shrugged his shoulders and said, "no." I thought about it for a minute, then realised that Ethan had just figured out that Sam doesn't have a catheter. All the other kids he knows have one, so why shouldn't Sam... Preparations for Ethan's concert have reached fever pitch and I'm starting to really look forward to the evening. I rarely take the opportunity to sit in the audience and hear my colleagues play and I know I'll enjoy it. And I've never given the bouquet to someone before! I hope I won't trip... Thanks for stopping by! Charys
