Dear Friends and Family,
Happy Birthday Marines and Happy Veterans Day to all Veterans! Thank you so very much for your service and sacrifices!
I would like to take a moment before Eric’s update to ask for your thoughts and prayers. It has been three years since Eric was injured, three years filled with trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Along this journey of continued healing you have shared many experiences with us and have witnessed Eric thriving and living life to the fullest. We are beyond grateful for your continued support and now I ask that you assist in thinking of and praying for the healing of another Warrior.
Along with supporting Eric and his individual recovery, we try to stay connected with other families who are traveling similar journeys. Unfortunately with brain injury, every injury is unique and there is no rhyme or reason as to how or what recovery will take place. The journey of healing and recovery from a brain injury is a long one and kind words of support offer some light in what can be a dark day during the early stages of recovery.
CPT Rob Yllecas was injured in Afghanistan a couple of weeks ago and is currently at Bethesda Naval Hospital. He is a husband and a father to two little girls and he is a Hero that needs your thoughts and prayers for continued healing. You can leave your comments on a blog that his wife is keeping: http://yllescasfamily.blogspot.com/
Thank you!
Eric’s update
We hope you and your respective families have been well and are enjoying the season changes and upcoming holidays! The Edmundson family household has enjoyed the past month and is looking forward to numerous activities coming up.
In regards to Eric’s episodes of severe nausea, lethargy and decreased cognition…he continued to experience reoccurring bouts in October, but after a trip to a new Neurologist in Greenville, NC, Eric was started on Keppra for possible seizure activity. He takes a very small dose two times a day and we are thrilled to report that since beginning the medication he has not experienced an episode!! We are excited for Eric that he has had relief, is gaining weight back, and looking good! Eric will continue to be monitored and we will continue to assist him in getting the appropriate amount of activity and rest. Thank you for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers these past couple of months.
Now for some of the fun stuff...as some of you may know, hunting season has arrived! Eric has been an avid hunter since he was a little kid. Dad tells stories of Eric being just a little kid and waking up at three and four in the morning, fully camo’d up and ready go with excitement. It has always been a special time for the two of them.
The end of October Eric and Dad headed to South Carolina for their second year at the Upstate Mobility Impaired Deer Hunt in Spartanburg, South Carolina. As it states in the name, this is a special hunt put together by the SC DNR for those who are living with severe mobility impairments. The DNR works with volunteer hunt clubs to host hunters for an evening and morning hunt once a year. The hunt clubs offer the hunters assistance in setting up blinds, pushing deer, tracking, and processing.
