Day 106

Emma had the ND feeding tube put in yesterday. She is such a trooper and shows more strength and adaptability than MOST adults I know, including her parents. She cried shortly and then just wimpered saying "Nose, Nose". Daddy wanted to go in with her while I stayed out and watched Logan. I think it was harder on him than her. She has not bothered the tube coming out her nose once or the tape on her cheek. She tolerated last night's feeding thru the tube just fine and ate a little by mouth today.

She met her physical therapist today and responded very quickly to her. The physical therapist said that once she is off the steroids we would see bigger improvement in her, but overall compared to most kids she sees Emma looks good. She does need assistance to walk, but the distance she will walk and her speed have improved over the last 3 days. She crawled like a loin for PT making it about 2 feet before her arms gave out. She was determined to finish the other 2 feet and get to me. I was so proud of her!!! PT said that we should see more improvements over the next 2 weeks.

OT comes tomorrow to evaluate for a food texture issue. The only thing she will eat is very soft food...yogurt, applesauce, etc.

We continue to be amazed at her determination. God has certainly blessed us with an all around likeable and special child. We, or at least I, learn so much from her about how people should treat others and the continued need to be there and help in anyway needed with no questions asked or anything wanted in return. Seeing all the kids we've seen and what they and their families go thru it does something to your soul. It changes your every fiber and desires about life. I see how God works in the families, nurses, doctors, volunteers, etc. He definately has worked in mine. Charles and I brainstorm about how we can give back and help others once we are back home and settled. That time will come. For now we are so very blessed by everyone of you who have and are helping us in anyway. It all has been appreciated.

Thanks again and keep ya updated. : ) KV
