My Story

On July 4th, 2007, our family was blessed with the birth of beautiful identical twin girls. Isabella Grace and Madeline Ora are 2 wonderful additions to the family. Both girls were diagnosed with a stage 4s cancer called neuroblastoma in September 2007. We created this site to keep everybody posted on their progress.

Life in fast forward....

Or should I say the kids seem to move in fast forward all day long! At least that’s how it feels sometimes. We are certainly ready for spring around the Dunn household.  The kids have been enjoying the warm days and so have we! Praising God each and every day for this beautiful time we have. As I watch them run and laugh, I can’t get over how special our children are and how much they have changed our lives.

The girls are growing like crazy, lots of teeth, hair and talking up a storm! We headed back to Children's on Tuesday for ultrasounds and clinic. A long... long day for sure! Everything is looking great! We will have the most important results back next week. Dr. Taub and Dr. Xavier think the girls are doing wonderful developmentally. Isabella has no signs of even scar tissue left in her liver. Madeline has a little bit of residual which is believed to be scar tissue… but the tumor is completely gone! Once again we were thrilled to hear that! Isabella is weighing in at 21. 4 lbs and Madeline is at 21.5 lbs and they are a little less than 1/4 inch apart in height.

I have cut their hair about three times in the last 6 months... but they have now officially been to the salon! Thank you Jeni! We love their new little haircuts! We have a hard time keeping them still for a picture together but I will post the ones I have been able to get along with the others that have been taken over these past months.  We can now post 50 pictures right on this website! That will be so much easier!

Isaiah will be turning 4 on the 25th!! He is so excited that he asks almost every day” how many more days?!” Michael and I have been just been blown away at how big he looks to us. He is losing the little baby boy look. He never fails to still amaze us every day with his knowledge, compassion and love for everything and everyone around him! He wants to do homework all the time. So we have purchased some pre-school workbooks. He can’t wait to get up in the morning and work on his “homework”… he is doing a really great job!

Since our last post we have some fun news to report. We have a nephew to introduce! Michael’s Brother Mark and our sister–in-law Amy welcomed their first child, Chase, 3 weeks early! Everyone is doing great! He is a beautiful and healthy little boy. We are so excited to watch him grow! We also have found out that my sister Emily and our brother- in- law Shane are expecting their first child at the end of September. We are just thrilled for them!

All is well in our household and we pray that it is the same for you.  We are certainly blessed to have a roof over our heads, food on the table, our Faith in God and health! God has been so good to us!

I asked Isaiah yesterday what his favorite thing about Jesus was and this was his response. "My favorite thing about Jesus is that he died on the cross for our sins. Did you know that? Now we can go to Heaven. That is pretty special mom."  "I also pray to Him when I am in bed. I thank him for healing my sisters and for my family. I think he hears me because my heart feels it."

Happy Easter!

All our love,

Michael, Alissa, Isaiah, Isabella and Madeline
