Services will be held Thursday, July 10th at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church in Fremont at 10:30 AM. Memorials can be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Keene Memorial Library or St. Joseph Villa Homecare and Hospice.

Doris C. Anthony, 81, of Fremont died Thursday, June 26, 2008, at St. Joseph Tower in Omaha.

Doris Caroline Peterson was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Fremont to Olaf and Emma (Carlson) Peterson. She was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1944. She attended Midland Lutheran College and Wayne State College. She married Gifford Dixon in 1950; he died Dec. 18, 1964. She married Leonard Anthony on Oct. 10, 1969, in Fremont; he died January 31, 2004. After raising her family, she became the manager of the Fremont Senior Center for 18 years. During that time and after retirement she was a volunteer for many groups and organizations. She moved to the St. Joseph Tower in September 2007 to be closer to children and grandchildren.

She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church for many years, where she served on the Vestry and was a member of St. Anne’s Guild. She later joined St. Timothy Lutheran Church where she helped with the special classes. She also volunteered at the May Museum and Keene Memorial Library.

Survivors include: four sons, Daniel Dixon of Omaha, Scott (and wife, Kathy) Dixon of Salina, Kan., Tyler (and wife, Lynda) Dixon of Goodyear, Ariz. and Matthew (JoLynn) Dixon of Fremont; a daughter, Beth (Mrs. Steve) Mincer of Omaha; three stepsons, Myron (and wife, Geri) Anthony and Lloyd "Rocky" (and wife, Karen) Anthony, all of Omaha and Lonnie Anthony of Fullerton; a stepdaughter-in-law, Kathy Anthony of Tekamah; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by a son, a stepson and a great-grandson.

Memorial Services will be at a later date in Fremont.

Dugan Funeral Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
