Hello, everyone. Two quick things, both good.
Dori's monthly visit to the clinic today went well. Her blood counts continue to show overall improvement. Red and white blood cell counts rose, while platelets were steady. Dori feels good most days, though sometimes she tires easily and a few foods don't agree. She's exercising and regaining weight, both good signs. Overall, the last few weeks and months have been very good for Dori and our family.
Earlier tonight, I emailed friends and family, asking them to consider donating generously to a Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fundraiser (I'm running a half marathon in October through Team in Training for Dori). The full email is below. My apologies to those of you who are receiving this twice, through e-mail and the CaringBridge alert.
As most of you already know, my wife Dori has survived acute myeloid leukemia and has had a successful bone marrow transplant. I cannot say "Thank You" enough for your continued prayers and support this past year.
Dori and thousands of others benefited from research conducted by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that was funded by generous people like you. This summer, I started to prepare for an October half marathon in San Francisco with the Society's Team In Training program (the folks running around in purple). I will be completing this race in honor of Dori, as well as an honored teammate, John Anderson, a 12-year-old Tennessean battling leukemia, and our friends who are battling blood cancers and other cancers.
The goal is to eradicate blood cancers once and for all, and you can help us do it. I'm asking you to help by making a donation to my fundraising campaign.
Please use the link in this email to donate online easily and securely. You will receive a confirmation of your donation by email and I'll be notified as soon as you make your donation.
You can track OUR progress - my training and all of your collective efforts to raise money for research and support - at my fundraising page listed above, as well as at my blog about our journey: http://runfordori.blogspot.com/.
Thank you very much for your support. Dori and I greatly appreciate your generosity to whip cancer.
Jim Brown
P.S. If you prefer to donate via mail, please email me for those instructions.
P.S.S. Please forward this email to friends you believe are interested in or have been impacted by blood cancers.
