Dear Friends: Thanksgiving has a special meaning for me this year. Last year, as you remember since you have been so faithful to pray, I had just been released from the hospital with a diagnosis of Stage 4 Abdominal Cancer. The months that followed were a blur of doctors appointments, CT Scans, surgeries and chemotherapy. How near we felt the Lord at every step. How sufficient He was! This Thanksgiving is a new experience of gratitude. In October, we visited Pittsburgh and Dr. Bartlett confirmed that there was "no indication of disease" at the present time. There was one spot of concern around the liver and we need to stay vigilant but no chemotherapy for another 3 months and if the scan is clear in February, then no chemotherapy for 6 months. YEEHAW! With health returning every day, I've waked back up to an exciting, busy, stressful world. I'm running again (slowly for now). I'm thankful even for the problems, because, as 2008 made so clear, problems are "part of the package". I hope that some day, some how, I'll be able to express my gratitude to each of you for all your care and prayers. For today, we have so many reasons to rejoice...I guess that's all the Lord promised. Holly and the boys and I send our love to you this special season. Sincerely, Don
