Mom had a really good Thursday for the most part. She took 3 walks, rode the bike (they have her riding it to keep up her muscle strength) and was even skipping a bit down the hallways. But then they gave her the meds that afternoon that she takes to help keep her from getting GVHD (graft V. Host disease) and it made her feel crummy again...thankfully she only has one more dose of that med and it will be on day +11 ( day 11 since transplant so Tuesday)
Today was not a good day. During the night she started getting terrible mouth pain and a really bad pain in her throat...mom says her throat feels swollen...so they increased her pain meds but she was still in pain today(this is the effects of the radiation showing its ugly head). Mom said her pain during the night got to around a 9 on a scale to 1-10. She really struggled to do any talking today and if you know my mom not talking it quite the challenge for her. :)
Her night tonight seemed better...the pain meds really seemed to be helping, she sounded better on the phone and was not in as much pain.
Even though mom is hurting, the doctor came in and was really happy to discuss that even though mom was in pain and they hate to see people in pain, that from their doctor perspective she was doing fantastic- no issues or complications so far.
We should hopefully start to see moms counts come up...Monday will be day +10.
