I hear you on the worrying, Dana. It's far worse because you are so far away. But what you wrote from Joyce Meyer is my go to when I begin to worry. And then I say this prayer:

My heavenly Father, thank You for caring for me and for assuring me that You will provide for every need I have. Too often, I’ve allowed worry to creep in and steal my joy or my peace. Because of worries over little things, sometimes I’ve been unable to focus on the greater things in this life You do for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, free me from the things that bind me so I can be totally free to worship and serve You. Amen.

And this verse:

"Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." (Philippians 4:6 NLT)

It does give me peace. Hope it does for you too!

Just read this from Joel O'Steen's app-Today's Word. It seems so fitting for your family, Dana.

"God not only wants to give you peace, He wants to give you great peace! When you love the law of the Lord, nothing can make you stumble, and nothing can steal your peace!

Great peace gives you joy when it doesn’t make sense for you to be happy. It's peace that passes understanding. Great peace keeps you stable and strong no matter what you face.

Today, make the decision to focus your attention on God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 says that His Word is a lamp to our feet and light to our path. His Word directs us and protects us. Choose His Word today and embrace the great peace God has in store for you!"

"Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble." Psalm 119:165 ESV

"Father, thank You for Your Word that gives me great peace. I choose to focus on Your Word today so that You can protect and guide me. Thank You for working in my life in Jesus’ name! Amen."

So true, Dana. Sometimes though I believe that God wants us to act on what He asks of us. Sometimes we just can't sit back and say it is all God's will. I read about this through Joyce Meyer's devotional just the other day. Yes, we need to wait on the Lord. Yes, we need to let God lead the way. But we also must obey when He asks us to do things that seem uncomfortable such as advocating for someone. I know you know what I mean.

Autism has touched our lives as Bobby's grandson, Kyle, has Asperger's which is on the autistic spectrum. We are very fortunate too, to know and have as members at our club, Suzanne and Bob Wright, founders of Autism Speaks. Between the Wrights and also Ernie Els and so many others, including Nicole, programs are being developed and progress is being made. There is no cure and they really don't know what causes it. What worked with our grandson was optimal nutrition of fruits and veggies; limited sugar, processed foods, dairy and gluten; and intervention. Kyle is 18 and will be graduating from public high school this June. As we know, with God, anything is possible.

You have an amazing family!

Great post last night Dana. Thanks for reminding us for how much we have to be grateful and for showing us how Devon keeps his good spirit even though he has every "right" to be depressed and feeling like "woe is me." God always delivers at the right time!

Your post this morning opened my eyes!

Love to all. Hope Angie had a great birthday!

Read this tonight. No matter how many scriptures we read that relate, there is always another that can add to our joy. God Bless and love, Patti

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound] (Isaiah 40:28-29 AMP)

Good morning Quigley journal family!  It's been about 2 months that I've been "unplugged", from Caringbridge.  I never missed a days post in 3 years until my first grand baby was born 2 months ago.  Everything everyone says about grandchildren IS true!  lol  My daughter and her baby live with me so I get extra loving on him daily.

In saying that I have not been unplugged from Charlotte and Devon.  I visited Dev in the hospital and he even though he had fallen, had surgery and was in pain, I still got a eye's straight up warm welcome from him.  His countenance is still beautiful!!

I'm writing to tell you all I had a dream about Dev last night.  Yes, Charlotte and Dev called me on the phone yesterday so maybe that's why I had the dream, idk?  Anyway, it was so real.  We were at some house and there was some sort of party/get together and I was standing next to Devon and he was laying on a couch.  He whispered something to me……..(I can't remember), and I said Dev, you're talking!  Then he said yes, and I can also lift my right pinkie/finger and he lifted it for me.  I told him how wonderful that was and then he spoke again.

Just wanted to share………it was so real to me that maybe it's just confirmation of what's going to come!!

Love to all,
Brenda

So relieved when word was received that surgery went so well.  Prayers continue for all.  Having a longstanding relationship with RI Hospital I can tell you they are well acquainted with and equipped to embrace people with a variety of ailments.  A floor on the Jane Brown wing is set aside for orthopedic surgical patients.   They have a world class compliment of surgeons and people from all over the world come for procedures.  While Devon is certainly unique and special, his presentation is not new to the docs or nurses at the hospital.  And, when someone is immobile they are much more at risk for fracture than those of us that are mobile. Thus the need for proper professionally fitted equipment and care in choice of orthotics when weight bearing, positioning when sitting and even choice of therapies and mode of transfers is essential.

I have no doubt Charlotte will have them all dancing to her tune!  I shall see it for myself when I visit.
