My Story

Hi-5 (favorite hand signal at the time of diagnosis),

There are 400 - 500 new cases of Wilms' Tumor (WT) in the US every year - that's one to two a day. It is the 5th most common childhood cancer. Only 5% of all cases affect both kidneys.

On April 12, 2006, Devin, age 10 mo, was diagnosed with bilateral WT, favorable histology, local Stage I/II (no metastasis).

No Evidence of Disease!!!!!  (Green is the current favorite color.)  Wow, we are approaching the 3 year Off Treatment mark in October.  Could we be one of those families that can get off this cancer roller coaster?  Hmmm... we will always feel that EVERY DAY with our healthy kids is a blessing.  And we cherish every minute with our little fire cracker.

We had the pleasure of meeting some of the WT families that we have grown to know over the years.  Many of them flew to DC for the ever so important Reach The Day Events.  Talk about committment for a CURE.  Many parents were there who lost their child.  Paid for their own flight, hotel, and gave their time to meet with members of our Congress so that the funding for childhood cancer research continues.  Check out Clint and Devin on the CureSearch website under Hill Visits.  There they are with other MD advocates and Rep Chris Van Hollen - he's a class act.

The CureSearch Milestones Walk has been rescheduled for Sept 26 at Constitution Gardens in DC, 10 AM.  This is the date!  We have started planning.  Stay tuned.  I've started our page for Team Devinator.
