Delila’s Story

Site created on April 29, 2014

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Delila has touched the lives of so many people, that we couldn't even begin to personally keep in touch with all of those who love her so much. Therefore, we have created this website to keep friends and family updated on Delila's care plan as she journeys through treatment of colon cancer.
We also ask that you fervently lift her up in prayer just as she has done for so many. Thank you for your continuing prayers and support.

Holy Thursday, April 17th, 2014, Delila had a colonoscopy in Dickinson. The doctor asked that she return on Good Friday for a biopsy of what was discovered. At that point, the doctor informed her that she most likely had colon cancer.
Despite all of her traveling and doctors appointments, she and Francis attended Holy Thursday and Good Friday masses. On Sunday, after Mass, Delila and Francis celebrated Easter with family and friends at Rachael and Darwyn's home. Delila even hid Easter eggs stuffed with money just like grandma Regina Hauck used to do.
On Tuesday, April 22, Delila went to Bismarck for a CAT scan. The doctor officially diagnosed her with stage III colon cancer.
Delila is scheduled for surgery on April 30, 2014. Dr. Helbling will remove a portion of her colon, along with some surrounding lymphs nodes. We appreciate your support and prayers.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Rachael Mayer

It has been a long time since we've updated CaringBridge.  We have some really great news!  Delila has been walking!  She has had braces on her legs to aid her in walking. Yesterday, though, Delila and the therapists all forget to put her braces on.  She walked about 130 ft. before they realized it.  God is Good - All the Time!  Congratulations on your success, Delila!  You Go, Girl!  😀🙏
