If I could tell you what it meant, there would be no point in dancing it.
- Isadora Duncan
Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.
- Dorothy Thompson
Never give a sword to a man who cannot dance.
I know what the greatest cure is: it is to give up, to relinquish, to surrender, so that our little hearts may beat in unison with the great heart of the world.
- Henry Miller
The winds of grace blow all the time. All we need to do is set our sails.
The greatest part of our happiness depends on our dispositions, not our circumstances.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.

To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self....
With every gust of wind, the butterfly changes its place on the willow.
May you live all the days of your life.

I see you Mara. Let's sit down and have tea.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep. You must ask for what you really want. Don't go back to sleep. People are going back and forth across the doorsill Where the two worlds touch. The door is round and open. Don't go back to sleep.

The best way out is always through.
Dance when you're broken open. Dance if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.
As long as you're dancing, you can break the rules.
Sometimes breaking the rules is just extending the rules.
Sometimes there are no rules.

____________________________________________________________________________ You are all direct evidence that we humans are caring, social, compassionate, joyful beings... I am overwhelmed (in a beautiful way) by the outpouring of prayers, dance videos, photos, stories. Together, we are a magnificent tapestry of emotions, experiences, relationships, woven together with love. There are too many experiences to recount -- the UCSF Mt Zion Hospital staff is simply extraordinary. My family and friends are exceptional. The internet community is immensely kind and loving [with just a few people who haven't yet learned to trust their true souls (and let's take a moment of compassion to hope they find their groove)]... Profound gratitude to all who are bearing witness to this journey. It is our collective journey really. To those many women about to undergo mastectomy or other major surgery who have reached out to me, let me know if you want to do a skype dance before your surgery. Eternal love and gratitude. peace, Deborah
