Debbie Seid's Journal
Sad Day in Boston
Written Apr 15, 2013 8:13pmOur hearts go out to those who were hurt and killed today in this wonderful city. The streets were crazy as I was coming back to the hospital. The hospital is in lockdown and I'm very happy that I was finally able to get security to let me back in so I could be with Deb. The Doctors were waiting for me to review the LP results which was normal and yes good news. However, the bad news is they feel strong that we must address the new spots on the brain that were confirmed with the last MRI of the head. The Docs agree it is Leukemia and want Debbie to consider radiation. We are scheduled to talk with the radiation Docs tomorrow. Deb is doing fair and received a blood transfusion today and is not eating much. Please continue to support and pray for my girl.
Written Apr 13, 2013 6:07amDeb is feeling rather well after the Lumbar Purcture and Chemo treatment. We hope to hear results by Monday or Tuesday. The good news is that the new bone pain has stopped and Docs feel it was just a bad sprain. Next procedure will be a follow up biopsy which we hope is in the next week. The Docs have decided to move Deb to a Rehab sometime next week to work on reconditioning her. Being in a hospital bed since mid January has been hell on her body. Since Deb's blood counts are now at a safe level we need to get her up and walking again. If all goes well with the LP results and we find an inpatient Rehab that will take her we should be moved by mid week.
Current Update and Next Steps
Written Apr 11, 2013 11:07amThe latest biopsy results did not support complete remission due to the presents of some remaining ghost cells (that were still dying off) The team had decided to repeat a biopsy in the next 10 days. In the meantime new bone pain has begun in a new area and x-rays do not show a break or dislocation so an MRI of the area may be ordered soon to see if it is AML. A second issue of brain lesions was addressed back when the Lumbar Puncture was done about a month ago with chemo injected into the spine. A follow up MRI of the brain yesterday did show some improvement is these lesions, however the new MRI is now showing a new concern to an area in the back of the brain. A new LP is scheduled for tomorrow to collect spinal fluid for pathology to review and a new dose of chemo will be given to address the new areas of concern. The news has been hard for Deb, but she continues to fight it a day at a time. Please keep her in your prayers.
