I love hearing your story! You are an amazing woman for going through that. I can not even imagine having to experience that. One night on Netflix I went through and was watching Christmas movies. When I came across the movie The Heart Of Christmas. I decided to watch it. So here am 12 years old sitting in my bed at 4 in the morning thinking that I am watching an everyday Christmas movie. That is not what I got at all. I was sitting in my bed crying my eyes out about you story. It touched me so much. I knew someone very close to me who died from cancer. And just being told that he wasn't going to make it to Christmas just broke my heart. He ended up passing on November 25, a month before Christmas. I absolutely think you are a wonderful person. I am so grateful that I found the movie and found out about Dax. Your story touched me so very deeply. I am appreciative of reading your journal and watching your story. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!! God Bless You!!

I posted a message on your Caring Bridge the night before Thanksgiving. My 6 year old daughter and I had just finished the movie. In my message I expressed our love for the sick children at St. Jude and how the movie touch us.

Little did I know several days later on December 9 a great friend was told to head to St. Jude with her 6 year old little boy to find he had Leukemia.

We have been crushed with the news and it is so strange this happened after watching the movie. The little boy is my daughters great friend, the boy's mama is my daughter's first grade teacher, and his father and I graduated high school together in a small class of 69. To say the least our small school and town has been crushed. I know this sweet little angel is on good hands at St. Jude Hospital. We all feel so helpless right now. Is there any advice you can give us to help them as they go through this during the Christmas Season. Their story is much like yours. It is truly amazing how our God works.

I would love to talk to you. I am on facebook messenger as Anna Makamson or if you have an email address you would like to share.

Look forward to hearing from you.

What a heartwarming post!  Congratulations on reaching your goal.  I hold so much admiration for you. Being a mom myself, I can't even imagine contemplating the loss of a child, let alone placing myself in the St. Jude Community where you have to be reminded of your loss every day. You are one amazing woman!  I wish you, Madeline and your family a very Blessed Christmas! Your are in my heart!

Julie,
Reading your blog made me laugh, cry and more. I am an RN who worked in pediatrics my entire career. I would love to write you a longer letter, please let me know where I can send it. I have been very ill the past two years. LOL That's not the whole truth. I just had my 55th major surgery. However I am still here, still filled with joy. Every day is a gift. Everyday I get to see my three daughters mature into loving adults, one even just married and is starting her family, I thank God. My husband is a saint we have been together for over 30 years. My family is my heart. I know that God doesn't want bad things to happen to us. However if we trust him, he can use these bad times and make incredible things happen out of the rubble. I will pray for you and Madeline Elizabeth. That is my middle daughters name. Madeline Elizabeth Miller. I couldn't believe it when I saw that was what you named your daughter. I went to your foundations page and made a donation to St. Jude's hospital. I have given to them before, but after reading your story, they will become a benefactor of our tithing. I hope you continue to heal. I think when we lose a child we never fully recover, however we do thrive if we let God help us. I believe your guardian angel was with you and Maddy in the basement when that tornado went through. When you have time please update your status here. I would love to know that you are both ok.

I have a 6 year old daughter that has the softest heart and has a love for St. Jude Hospital. She began her love and compassion for sick children and St. Jude last school year when my son (9 at the time) made items with his 3rd grade class to sell at school for a St. Jude donation. His class received a thank you note from St. Jude and it touched my son and daughter's heart tremendously. Also, we only live 2 hours from Memphis and know several people that work there that my husband and I went to a small private school with. My 6 year old daughter and I just finished the movie about Dax. Neither of us have a dry face. After we cleared our eyes and throats, my daughter says, "mama he would be a year older than me and he is in heaven enjoying not being sick." My response: "I know you are right and one day we can tell him he touched our lives the night before Thanksgiving 2014. How appropriate this Thanksgiving eve to be reminded to be thankful for our blessings. Your story has reminded us of just how precious life is. Our babies are the most precious gift from our God above. Praying for your hearts this holiday season. What a great movie. I teach at the same small Private Christian school I graduated from and I am going to try to show this movie during the holiday season. I want to share your journey with others. God Bless.

Love in Christ,

Anna
