Dear Julie,
I'm not sure if you remember me, but as Dax was fighting for his life, my daughter, Kate was also battling cancer and we would write each other either on Facebook or the Caringbridge website. I am with my family on Christmas Day and we are watching the movie, "The Heart of Christmas" together. Christmas has been very difficult since my angel passed, but I felt like I really needed to watch the movie now.
God works in mysterious ways. In fact right now as I type this note too you, the song, "Reason For the World," is playing on the movie. Joe and Matthew West have become close friends, bringing so much comfort to my family and especially me. You sharing your story, made a huge difference in my life.
Tonight I learned something amazing that I want to share with you. My daughter, Katherine Leigh McCook, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2010. She was 22 years old. I believe there are no consequences. The Lord is an Amazing God. His grace is enough. To learn tonight that your baby girl, Madeline, was born the same day that my Kate passed peacefully, somehow brings me comfort. So bless you Julie, Austin and Madeline!
Merry Christmas and many Happy New Years ahead.
Love from our family to yours.

I watch the movie based on your story (The Heart of Christmas) every year and cry my eyes out every time. It is such an inspirational story and so sad. You are the strongest family I have ever seen. Keep strong and keep faith in God this Christmas and every Christmas in the future. I am praying for your family this holiday season.

My husband and I just watched "The Heart of Christmas" last night. A spectacular story. We have a 17 month old little girl. She is our whole world. You and Austin are two of the strongest people I have ever heard of. Our family will continue to lift you in our prayers, and we will bring it to our church council to see if we can add Dax's Foundation to our Missions for the year. Each month our church collects a special offering that we donate to local charities or foundations. This is such an amazing cause, and Peoria is practically our neighbor! Thank you for Dax, and thank you for inspiring me to appreciate everything I have; even when I'm tired, and life has been weighing on me. We love your family! The picture below was from her four month old pictures.

Thank you for sharing Dax life journey with us.  This journey for your family probably has ups and downs but you can tell God is holding your hand every step of the way. I watched the video with the Christmas song on it and Your little Dax was such a cute little guy with an amazing personality for being so young.   He has a glow of a miracle baby.  From one mother to another, I know that glow. Little Dax and his strong mommy has touched my heart in a powerful way.  it so amazing all the money you have raise in honor of your little miracle Dax.

I love hearing your story! You are an amazing woman for going through that. I can not even imagine having to experience that. One night on Netflix I went through and was watching Christmas movies. When I came across the movie The Heart Of Christmas. I decided to watch it. So here am 12 years old sitting in my bed at 4 in the morning thinking that I am watching an everyday Christmas movie. That is not what I got at all. I was sitting in my bed crying my eyes out about you story. It touched me so much. I knew someone very close to me who died from cancer. And just being told that he wasn't going to make it to Christmas just broke my heart. He ended up passing on November 25, a month before Christmas. I absolutely think you are a wonderful person. I am so grateful that I found the movie and found out about Dax. Your story touched me so very deeply. I am appreciative of reading your journal and watching your story. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas!! God Bless You!!

I posted a message on your Caring Bridge the night before Thanksgiving. My 6 year old daughter and I had just finished the movie. In my message I expressed our love for the sick children at St. Jude and how the movie touch us.

Little did I know several days later on December 9 a great friend was told to head to St. Jude with her 6 year old little boy to find he had Leukemia.

We have been crushed with the news and it is so strange this happened after watching the movie. The little boy is my daughters great friend, the boy's mama is my daughter's first grade teacher, and his father and I graduated high school together in a small class of 69. To say the least our small school and town has been crushed. I know this sweet little angel is on good hands at St. Jude Hospital. We all feel so helpless right now. Is there any advice you can give us to help them as they go through this during the Christmas Season. Their story is much like yours. It is truly amazing how our God works.

I would love to talk to you. I am on facebook messenger as Anna Makamson or if you have an email address you would like to share.

Look forward to hearing from you.

What a heartwarming post!  Congratulations on reaching your goal.  I hold so much admiration for you. Being a mom myself, I can't even imagine contemplating the loss of a child, let alone placing myself in the St. Jude Community where you have to be reminded of your loss every day. You are one amazing woman!  I wish you, Madeline and your family a very Blessed Christmas! Your are in my heart!
