Another platelet transfusion
Written Dec 14, 2012 10:31amDavid is having another transfusion of platelets today. He is very tired and weak, but at least no fever or vomiting. We have been visited by the OT and PT as the continue to evaluate him for continuing care. It appears we may be here through his next chemo (starts next Friday) and after he gets stable he will be transferred to a long term acute care hospital with a minimum stay of 25 days. We won't know about bone marrow transplant options until after the bone marrow biopsy following David's next chemotherapy.
Three weeks in
Written Dec 14, 2012 9:03amToday marks three weeks of living in the hospital. David is in the bone marrow transplant unit of the Markey Cancer Center. Since our admission on November 23, David has had a bone marrow biopsy, 8 pints of blood, 4 platelet transfusions and a transfusion of antibodies. He has had to have a second PICC line added then removed due to days of uncontrolled bleeding. He had 96 hours of chemotherapy, mild pneumonia, thrush, fungal infection in his throat, kidney problems and fevers, but thank God he is still alive. His devotion to God is quite amazing as hd struggles to live, yet constantly clings to God giving him thanks for the little things and ministering to so many others during his illness. He is such a precious man with so much love for the Lord and faith God is at work.
