Since I have last written Danny has had a few bumps in the road. We have had a few Hosp. stays, but not too long. Danny has had problems with side effects from Chemotherapy, specifically with Vincristine. In April of 2011 Danny developed Autonomic Neuropathy, or Dis-Motility. It has been hard for Danny to digest solid foods and passing through his digestive tract. In recent days we just spent another 4 days with our Family at AI duPont Hosp. for Children. Danny could not make bowel movements and became sick and needed to get well with help. We had to give Danny meds to help with this and change others. Danny is doing much better and we have been able to help him in a better way. Danny has 8 more months of Treatment left and I can say at times the time has gone by slowly but looking back the last 22 months of Treatment does not seem like almost 2 years.
Danny has been made an Honorary University of Delaware Football Team Member!! This was made possible by our Family members of The B+ (be positive) Foundation and the Univ. of Delaware. Danny absolutly loved meeting the players and coaches, he had the chance to run around the field at practice and Danny also has his very own Locker in the Locker Room (see our photo`s). These great bunch of guys made this a memorale time for Danny and a life time memory for me. I am forever grateful for the B+ Foundation and for the Univ. of Delaware, I could never have made this possible for Danny and they have given us a very special time that will not soon be forgot.Danny was also invited to The Wilmington Blue Rocks Baseball game by The B+ Foundation. Danny had a lot of fun with the players, had an introduction on the field and we had the chance to spend the night with The B+ Nation and help to bring Awareness toward Childhood Cancer, what a great night!!!
Danny has also been chosen by The St. Baldrick`s Foundation to be one of twelve Children, from around the country, to be honored during the month of Sept., which is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Danny`s Journey will be posted on their Website Sept. 17th (tentative), but will be available through their site, just click on the link provided on their Website.
I wanted to thank everyone who has followed Danny`s Journey thus far. Danny and I have been truly blessed, last week Danny celebrated his 4th Birthday!!!! We have not had his Birthday party yet because of our most recent Hospital stay but we are going to have a big party very soon. To see Danny run and play you would never know that he has faced so much adversity. Danny is a very happy and joyful Child filled with love and caring for others, even at 4 yrs old, he is my strength and gives me more inspiration than I could express. We make memories that will stay with us forever.
