Thank you for coming to this site to help support Damon Brooks and his family as we all take on this new chapter and unexpected turn of events in all of our lives. As you may know, Damon was hospitalized on April 20, 2012 after and accident he had misaligned his C-4 andC-5 vertebrae in his neck and bruised his spinal cord. He is progressing very well, but we have set up this site to help keep all that care about him informed with his injury as we all pray for a speedy recovery.
All donations are being accepted for Damon's medical expenses, specialized equipment and rehab recovery at www.helphopelive.org Type his name in the patients section and you will be directed to his page.
Damon was re admitted back into rehab the day after Memorial Day. His spirits are so much higher now that he is back at rehab and active. He is getting back to his old self. We were informed that Damon has lost a significant amoun of weight. This was expected though due to the fact that he didn't eat any solid foods for over month along with no activity or exercise. Once he started rehab, he was so happy to just be active again. The doctors at the rehab facility told him that he is moving at a faster pace than what they expected. Which is GREAT news. Damon was so happy to hear this and he said it made him even more determined to walk out of rehab. He currently does have his phone back and talks via Bluetooth. Once again, he refuses to eat the food there at the facility so we have to bring him food and he always calls his mother to make him his favorite meals. That is one big concern to the nurses and doctors there; the fact that he is not eating. The first couple of days he was there, he ate a lot and was throwing up a lot. So since that happened, he refuses to eat the food there. Sounds just like him! The feeding tube is no longer in his nose because he was eating but they are afraid they might have to put it back in because he isn't eating a lot. As far as rehab is going, Damon says they work him HARD. He is pretty much doing different types of therapy all day and it wears him out!!!! Thank you everyone for their support and we will keep you updated on his progress at rehab!
