Dear Team Craig,
Craig had a busy week, medically speaking. He met with his pain doctor to get another round of botox injections and discuss the pain situation and consulted with a second pain doctor. We are so thankful that Craig also had the appointment he has been waiting for with a person who deals with a lot of wheelchair patients. This person normally works only with people who also are intellectually challenged, but Jay was able to find a way to enable the person to see Craig.He/she (not sure which, never did get the name) thinks that much of the problem is caused by overuse of the neck muscles, and made several suggestions for wheel chair adjustments which could help with this. Rose, from the wheelchair company, has to make those adjustments, however. In all of our experience with her, she has been very difficult to get in to see, and has kept Craig waiting weeks. Craig has been learning how to be a squeaky wheel, and has some ideas how he is going to handle this potential roadblock. He is seeing another doctor this week, as they are still working on medication adjustments.
Please continue to pray for this pain situation: that the botox injections give Craig some relief, that Craig can get in to see Rose in a timely matter, and that the wheelchair adjustments help, that the doctors can find the right combination of meds, and that Craig can get off the pain meds.
I also have another request this time. We learned this past week that the daughter of a good friend of ours in Wisconsin has breast cancer. This young woman isthe mom of a baby and a toddler. Shebegins chemo therapy this week. Please pray for healing for her, and for strength for the whole family.
Thank you, as always for your love and prayers.Mary, Rick, and Craig

Dear Team Craig,
We are back in Tennesseeafter two weeks of travel. The first 11/2 weeks was spent in Wisconsin with Craigand my dad and Alma. The last 1/2 week was in California with Derek, Mary, and Maya. Thank you for your prayers regarding Craig'smedication switch. He is experiencingfewer problems with headaches and nausea, although this is not completelyover. We don't know yet if the medicinewill help. It takes longer to seeresults. The main problem, however, continues to be the pain. It just is notgetting resolved. He has tried many different things. He still has significant pain, and is on painmeds, which continue to make concentrating difficult. This of course makes working a challenge, although he is continuing with work. Understandably,he is extremely discouraged. It has beenvery hard to face this day after day after day. It has gotten better and worse over the last year, but it is just notgoing away. At this time, dealing withthe pain is worse than coping with the quadriplegia. Craig has tried physical therapy and massage,as well as medication. The pain doctordoesn't know what to do next. Aftertalking with Craig again while in Wisconsin,we decided to talk to Jay Martin again. A while back, Jay arranged an appointment with another wheel chairpositioning specialist, but that appointment had to be postponed, and will nottake place until mid January. I talkedagain with him yesterday to ask if he knew anyone else we could consult, and hesaid he would try contacting people he knew at the Chicago Spinal Cord Rehab Center. In the meantime, Craig will be gettinganother botox injection soon, which we hope can give at least a little relief.
This whole situation tears my guts out as a mom. There is so little I can do to help. Please pray for this situation. Pray for the pain to decrease, for Craig'sspirits to lift, for the medicine to stop interfering with Craig's work, forsome solutions to the problem. Pray alot, and ask your friends, church groups etc. to pray for this. Pray for guidance and wisdom for the doctors,Jay, Craig, Rick, and me as we look for answers. Pray for strength, courage, and hope.
Love,Mary, Rick, Craig

Thank you for the prayer and loving thoughts. Not long after I posted yesterday, the migraine went away. However, he had another one today which lasted until midafternoon. I spoke with his pharmacist, who said this happens often with this kind of med switch. She couldn't tell me how long the headaches will continue. Please continue to pray that the headaches stop soon.
