Cooper is a happy, energetic 2 year old who was diagnosed with stage IV, n-myc amplified Neuroblastoma on November 1, 2005. Having no symptoms or signs, this came as a huge shock to our family when we took him to his 6 month well check and found out he had cancer. To read about his story, please click below.

It has been quite a while since i have updated. That is what happens when you are a teacher in an "Unsatisfactory" school (My school is great!) in a No child Left Behind world....

But, no news is good news....almost.

Things have been as crazy as usual here. Cooper is enjoying school and being a very hyper 3 year old while Lily is jus tinto everything. when Cooper was her age, he was getting ready for his transplant, so things were quite different with him. We can't take our eyes off of her for a second! She is getting ready to celebrate her 1st birthday in a couple of weeks and we are excited. Time has flown by the last year.

Several weeks ago, I noticed that Cooper was always asking me "What did you say?" I blew it off as being distracted or not really listening. But then it got worse and worse, so I finally decided to get his hearing checked. After getting completely frustrated at ALWAYS repeating everything, we finally had the appointment today. As it turns out, Cooper is losing his hearing. Most kids with NB lose their hearing due to one of the chemos he was on for a while. So while it is upsetting to find this out, we kind of were expecting it someday. And, if he never relapses, we can deal with hearing impairment. He was fitted for his hearing aids right away. He'll have them in both ears. I let him pick the color and he chose red. Go figure..... We'll have to see how he does with them. He hated having the "playdoh" put in his ears today to make the mold. But the cool thing is that he calls his hearing aids "Transformer Ears" because they look kind of like Transformers (not really, but to a 3 year old they do). So he is kind of excited about getting them. That is the main news around here.

We are getting ready for Halloween tomorrow. Cooper will be the Incredible Hulk and Lily will be a pumpkin. We'll post some pics later!

thanks for checking on us!
