One year ago today...

One year ago today we didn't sleep a wink.  Literally not at all.  I stood in the shower crying once again, fully expecting more terrible news.  I said something that I never thought I would say; and something no parent ever wants to say.  " it is.  God I give you my son.  Do with him what you will.  I ask that you give him more time on Earth and use him as a beacon of hope."  (Up until this day I wasn't entirely sure He existed.)  We got dressed and went to the hospital.  Tammy and I walked hand in hand down the hall...millions of thoughts racing through our minds.  We turned down the hall where his room was and saw doctors inside and outside his room.  My heart stopped; my stomach dropped; and I felt like I was going to vomit.  We picked up the pace and as we approached the doctors his doctor turned around and looked at us.  I will never forget the look on her face.  She said "He did better last night than we ever could have hoped!  We need to start talking about long term recovery as opposed to certain death."  Words cannot explain the relief and pure joy we felt.  Collin was responding to commands; giving thumbs up and wiggling his toe.  In a 24 hour period we went from the lowest of lows to the highest of highs!  One year ago today God blessed our family and showed that He truly is a merciful God.  One year ago today...
