Well life has been crazy lately. I have been working crazy hours and have been sick. Sorry for the delay in updates. I read the book Hope of Life written by the founder of Give Kids the World. It is his life story and it was the best book I have ever read. I think it taught me a way to heal some of my post traumatic stress. His name is Henri Landwirth and he is one of my heros. I went to the first ever late effects seminar held here in Tulsa last Friday. I am so excited to have help in what we will deal with the rest of colby's life. They have a great new tool online, well its not live yet but will be soon called passport for care. All of you survivors moms should check it out I think the URL is ccitonline.org I learned so much about the many late effects. I don't have it all organized yet because I have been sick but hope to get to it this weekend. Colbys checkup last week went great. His counts are awesome and his Echo is scheduled for July 23rd. After that I will call to schedule his port removal surgery. They will do a bone marrow aspirate and a spinal to check the CNS during the surgery as well. And I am going to ask the dr if he can remove that skin tag that came up at the same time. I called a specialist to get a cogno psych test done to measure any cognitive late effects colby is having since the school board won't return my calls to do it. They could not get us in until October. I hate to wait that long because I can see issues myself and want to know how bad it really is. I also got to talk to some folks at the seminar about a fund raiser that I have been wanting to do for a while. I am just getting all the logistics worked out, it has been delayed too because of me being sick so hopefully I can get that all rolling in the next couple of weeks. I will be sure and keep everyone updated. Thanks so much for checking in on Colby. Have a great 4th.
Please keep the Harris family in your daily prayers.
