Trivia: Cody's report card showed that he missed 104 1/2 days of school this year! Next year will be better.
Tuesday was a fairly good day for Cody. Wednesday he felt kind of crummy most of the day. He slept until I woke him up at 10:00. We noticed he was much quieter than normal and didn't really want to eat much or do much. He said on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best he was a 4. His tummy was bothering him, he had headaches and he had 4 dizzy times. We kind of thought maybe that was improving a little.
Today he did better again. The oncologist's office called and said his scans looked good and his next one will be in December. We also were kind of sad to get a letter today from the Exercise Sports Medicine Clinic at St. Paul Children's where we met with Dr. Dan Halvorsen to have Cody assessed for strength etc. Their offices closed today forever! It was due to financial constraints felt by the hospital. Oh well, at least he got the initial assessment done. Cody had his PT evaluation this afternoon. There are still some things he can not do with his left foot/leg but the therapist still believes that playing this summer will help more than going to see her for 30 minutes a week. We can call and go back at any time. Bill came down to check up on Cody's leg brace. He had Cody do some walking and running and other things and we all decided that he needs to try a different style of brace. This one hurts in the front of his leg when he tries to run. Cody loves it for walking and says it makes it so much easier to walk. He used to complain about how hard it was to lift his left leg up when walking and pull it through to the front. The brace helps him alot with that. It also helps with his in toeing so he doesn't trip as often. Bill will call by the end of next week with the new brace.
We do have an appointment on July 14th at the U of M Medical Center for the audiology dizzy lab/ balance test. We can always cancel but so far everyone I've talked to has really encouraged us to go. The PT today said it's not that big a deal and she felt it could give us some good information. She could explain a little more that there are specially trained physical therapists who help kids like Cody and people following brain surgeries with dizziness. The goal is to actually get rid of it through therapy! If that would work, it really might be worth it. We still have not heard back from the neurologist about it or the comparing of scans he was doing. And, we should be getting lab work back next week that was done last week.
Cody is looking forward to a 'Shooting Basketball Camp' next week just 3 afternoons for a short time. He has golfed a little and played with friends. That's what summer's about. Have a safe and wonderful 4th of July!! It's so hard to believe it's here already...
