Everyday life continues at the Benson home. Christopher is finished with school for the summer. Hopefully we’ll get some home therapy soon and at least he’ll get some interaction. Unfortunately, it’s so hot out that we have to keep him indoors. We’ll try to find some activities he could enjoy and perhaps take him to the mall and walk around. That’s just a bad thing for me because we always come out with a handful of shopping bags too. J
We have still battled his gagging and vomiting issues. We tried Scopolamine patches to see if it helps with his saliva production. It seemed to help, but the gagging was still there. After much thought and consideration, we opted to try Botox. Believe me, it was a struggle deciding to do it, but nothing is worse than watching your child wretch and gag and there is nothing you can do to stop it. This Monday, he had his first round of injections in his salivary glands. Michael took him so I didn’t see it first hand. He said Christopher was such a trooper. Not one tear, barely a wince. The doctor said we should see an improvement within a week. His gagging seems to be a bit better even now and I was able to sit him up for a much longer time.
Christopher also got a make over yesterday. We cut his hair really short and spiked. His hair has always been unruly and for some reason, I didn’t want to cut his hair too short. I guess I just want to keep my sweet little boy. He is a big boy and I’m just going to have to let him grow up. Michael also gave him a little shave around his forehead and eyebrows and even his cheeks with his electric razor. The seizure meds make him very hairy! He looks even cuter! I’ll load pictures tonight….
Like I said, daily life continues. We have had some really good moments and for that we are truly thankful. May God continue to bless us with happiness, love, friendship, and heatlh. Thanks for checking in and keeping my sweet boy in your daily prayers.
