Support Chris' Walk with "Team Reeve" in Louisville!

Hi all!
It's been awhile since we've provided an update, but now there are 2 "newsworthy" updates to share.

First off - my brand new "bionic leg" has finally arrived!  It's a new device that wraps around my leg (shin & hamstring) and electrically shocks my muscles in to action as I walk.  The last video I posted shows me using / explaining Neuroworx's device.  Now I have one of my own - for at least the next month.  (It's a pricey device and we are currently trying to get one permanently - we shall see.)

Here's the video of me using the device, called the Biones L300:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuzjdKvPr-I

The Bioness unit comes into play because I will be using it to attempt to walk a 1 mile leg in the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon in Louisville on April 28!

I'm excited to be part of a team from Neuroworx, that is joining with the Christopher Reeve foundation to take part in the race.

Thousands of "able-bodied" runners do the racing, but many SCI survivors join Team Reeve to wheel - or in my case attempt to walk - a leg of the race to raise money for the Reeve Foundation and Spinal Cord research.

My goal is to raise $1,000 by April 24, walk the mile, and cross the finish - and I'm asking you all to be a part of it!

If 50 friends and family members are willing and able to donate just $20, I'll get there!  Any extra funds over my goal we will put toward trying to purchase the "Bioness" leg device, so I may use it past this month.

Many of you have been so generous in your thoughts, prayers, and financial support since that fateful August 8, 2010.  We never would have dreamed I'd be training to walk an entire mile less than 2 years later.  I remain eternally gratefully and I wouldn't be where I'm at without your support.

Meanwhile the therapy grind at Neuroworx continues everyday.  As of now I can walk a half mile in 20 minutes - and barely take another step.  I've got a ways to go to tackle the mile, but I'll get there and keep you updated.

If you're able to support my walk - please make your donation to my Special Needs Trust website at this link:  http://support.chrisleeuw.com/donate

Anyone interested in giving a sizable, tax-deductible donation can donate directly by check payable to "Neuroworx" (10376 S. Jordan Gateway, South Jordan, UT 84095) with "Chris' Walk in the memo.
