Chris’s Story

I am a 16-year old sophomore at Foley High School in Foley, AL. I play football and baseball.I have been diagnosed with AML Leukemia. I have a very long road ahead of me, but with my family, teammates, coaches, friends, and God with me - I will be a winner! Our coaches always tell us to FINISH - so that's what we're going to do - FIGHT THIS AND FINISH!

One Day at a Time!

From Jeana on March 27:
Day +57 It has been a little bit of a crazy week! Chris was scheduled to have a bone marrow test on Friday, but since his white blood count & his ANC dropped on Monday's labs, they decided to move his BMT & and add a BMT biopsy test to Tuesday...yes, this created a bit of panic and questions as to why and what are they looking for?? They have referred to his counts as being a little "puny" in coming in completely however in the same breath he is receiving immune suppressants to also help control Graft vs. Host disease (which is when the new cells take over to quickly and Chris’s body starts to fight the new cells). We received the test results this afternoon and his bone marrow is Leukemia free and the cells that are there are where they want them however just need a little more in volume to help continue to build ALL the counts.
The doctors have also decided to start decreasing the dose of the immune suppressant to not only allow the new cells to come in a little quicker since they seem to be a little “puny” but also to start to wean him off. As they do this please continue to Pray for higher counts with little to no graft vs. host disease issues… This is yet another big step in recovery and Chris is taking them one at a time.
Chris will have another bone marrow test on or around day 100 which is May 9th, and we anxiously await this test and the results with hopes of coming home soon after. God has truly been good to have his hands wrapped around both Chris & our family on this journey and all praise goes to him for all he has done!!!

Please continue to pray for a full recovery!!
Love to you ALL!!
