Dear Chase...your Dad has so eloquently expressed how much joy you have brought and continue to bring  to the Lykken family!!  Reading the words of your Dad brings tears to our eyes for a beautiful family that every day embraces the true value of life thanks to you, Chase!.  On this, your 6th birthday, we send our love and best wishes along with our simple gift of "Thanks" for just being who you are, Chase!  We continue to pray that sometime soon you will be able to say what you feel...."I love you Mom, Dad, Tanner & Ava".....what a gift that will be, Chase!  You have already earned your "Big Time" monicker with us, Chase!!  Happy Birthday, BT!!

Dear Lykken Family,

I pray for you every night, lately I have been praying for Chase to learn how to smile back and for God to keep giving you signs even just baby steps to show you that Chase is still improving.  I am sure that sometimes it seems like progress has slowed down too much but Chase has made some pretty big steps already.  Maybe he is saving up something special to just blow your socks off!  Don't give up hope, God is with all of you and He keeps watching out for Chase.  We just all need to keep praying and trusting that there is a Plan, we just don't know what that is and how God will reveal it.  You are a very special family that is so determined--Chase is lucky to have you all fighting for him, you have managed to let this all bring you closer together rather than tear you apart.  Hang in there, we all believe with you that God is Good!

Have you tried Trihexyphenidyl?  This medicine has been the best for my son (anoxic brain injury at 3 two years ago) and knocking down that constant tightness.  He gets it three times a day and is up to 12.5 ml (.4mg/ml) now which is about the max dose for his 41#.  I kept pushing for dosage increases since it was helpful and with one increase he started to smile again which we didn't know if he would ever do again.  Might help with Chase's arms.

Chaser! No one can blame a guy for falling asleep in school!  =)  Good luck with all your tests at Mayo this week!  Your Mom and Dad are so on top of things, so they'll be sure to keep those doctors in line!  Sounds like your dad might be a little jealous of your pipes though.  Can't wait until you can challenge him to an arm-wrestle match!  Take care little man!

Congratulations Chase on your first day of Kindergarten!  Thank you Chris and Lisa for spilling your hearts to us, and your honesty... and the way you inspire everyone to turn things around to see the positives!  I know it is not easy. Chase is so lucky to have you!!!  May he follow in in Grandpa Lykken's footsteps, and be the next walking miracle!  So far, he is definitely doing a great job of proving that he is!  Love and prayers to you all and always!

You are so good at sharing your heart!  It helps to know how to pray for your family.  So thankful for all the strong, good people in your life to help hold you up when you need it.  God gives us what we need to face those tough moments.  The way you support each other touches my heart.  God is good!

Yes CHASE IS AWESOME and so is his family! It is uplifting to read and watch all of you grow and progress as Chase is growing and progressing. You are right - our timeline is not always the same as what God has in store for each of us. I guess he uses that to help us grown in patience and knowing what is really important.
I can't wait to see the beautiful pictures from the wedding. I hope you all have a wonderful family time and celebrate new beginnings for someone dear to you. Chase, you will not only be awesome...you'll be HANDSOME!

Good morning Lykkens,
Your post & Ava's fort made me think of the scripture "in my house there are many rooms..." and in your case, God dwells in all of them, even under your basement steps!!!  YES, Chase IS awesome but so is his entire family! Thank you all for continuing to witness your faith to us, in the big ways, as well as the every day small ways. I'm so excited to see you all on Saturday. Chad is going to have some stiff competition with handsome little Chase up there at the alter. It will be wonderful to celebrate with all of you.  Thank you again for showing us what true faith looks like.
With you, always...
