“The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”- Psalm 138:8

Monday, June 29, 2009-Hello All-We are counting down the days until our vacation/trip July 9th.  Chase has clinic on Wednesday the 8th in New Orleans with some tests scheduled to check the blood clot and his heart in addition to the usual breathing treatment and clinic visit.  Yes, it will be a long day, but a good one knowing we are leaving for some FUN on Thursday.  I will try to post an update before we leave to let you all know the results of his clinic visit.

Recently, Chase has had a rash on his face.  We went to his allergist because he used to treat Chase for his sensitive skin issues before his leukemia diagnosis.  The result is infected ezcema and he is on meds to get rid of it.  Poor fella has always had sensitive skin and now that he isn't on steroids anymore, he is flaring up.  We've got to get him better ASAP so he can enjoy the pools and water park FUN at Disney.

We're so blessed that everything has worked out up to this point to allow us to go on this trip!

I feel the need to make a few things very clear about Chase's health and recovery.   His immune system is still fragile and will not be 100% for a very long time, therefore we still have to vigilant about proper precautions, handwashing, not being around sick people, etc.  Although Chase may appear to be "well,"  inside his body has been through pure torture.  Due to the toxic levels of chemo and steroids he received over two and a half years, his bones are soft and prone to breakage and pain, his muscles are totally weakened and he lost all reflexes.  In addition, he could experience a range of side effects for many years to come, including heart failure, muscular and skeletal issues, and secondary cancers, to name a few.  I share this information to make sure everyone understands Chase's condition at this point.  Yes, we are very, very blessed that he is here, functioning well, and even played ball.  However, he is not the same physically and may not ever be.  Our goal is to restore Chase to an even better health than before diagnosis and we will do everything in our power to help him accomplish this goal.  He will continue to need physical therapy and training to restore his body and improve his outlook about his health.

Thanks again for all your prayers and encouragement.  Keep it up as his battle is not over!

Hope you all have a fun and fireworks filled 4th of July!  I know that is what we will be doing as Chase LOVES fireworks!
