Chase’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We truly, deeply appreciate your support and prayers and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.  We are overwhelmed with love and support from the people we love.  We are just not able to keep up with the texts and calls now so this is the best way for us to keep in touch.

April 2013- For the past few weeks, Chase has experienced some coughing and shortness of breath during baseball practice and while carrying his gigantic backpack around.  He was diagnosed with bronchitis on Good Friday and then the following week the chiropractor found a couple of ribs out of place.  The cough has continued for about two weeks and Chase coughed up a small mass on Friday night.  We brought him to the ER at Dayton Children's and they admitted him based on x-rays that showed a large mass measuring approximately 13 cm in his left lung.  He had a CT scan Saturday and the mass was more clear but required a biopsy.  His biopsy showed malignant cells. He has a rare cancer called Pleuropulmonary Blastoma (PPB) Chase is in an incredibly good state of mind.  He is a complete trooper and his spirit and sense of humor amaze on a constant basis. We will face this and fight this as a family. Chase has so many people that love and care about him. We have tremendous faith in the power of prayer. Many people have asked us what they can do to help, so please keep Chase in your prayers.  That is what we appreciate hearing the most right now.
