Charlie Knuth's Journal
Written Dec 6, 2010 11:54pmOk, this is the 3rd time I have journaled on here, and it better work this time. This is amazing being here. Charlie is doing wonderful. I have never seen him so happy. The Ronald McDonald house where we are living is truly the best place on earth. All the worries of home are taken away. Volunteers are here every night to make dinner. The kids can play in the arcades, work out room, Basketball court, and the many many toy rooms. Charlie was so happy to meet Payton (the other little boy with EB). Payton had his transplant and he is doing wonderful. Payton used to look just like Charlie. He grew about a foot since transplant and his skin looks incredible. It was a very emotional and special moment watching them meet for the first time. They both have never met another friend the same age with EB. It was wonderful meeting his mother as well. What dedication. Today was the last day off of school for Chloe, Alex, and Hunter. They start tomorrow. Charlie has a bath and dressing change tomorrow and we have our first appointment on Wednesday. We went to the Mall of America today and I couldn't believe how many people here in Minnesota know Charlie. People were coming up to him all day. The news was here yesterday and they are coming again tomorrow from another channel.
We are still waiting for an opening in the BMT suites which are like apartments. We are crammed in a regular room and it is CHAOS. 6 people with 6 months of stuff and cases of dressings and supplies. I can't find a thing. If anyone needs to get a hold of me you can contact me at the Ronald Mcdonald House Upper Midwest in Minneapolis or call my cell. 920-277-6462. I will try to journal everyday and add pics but so far I have been crazy busy. I appreciate everyone out there who has supported us, and if I haven't told you that or sent you a thank you, just know that our family can not describe in words what this has meant to us. Goodnight.
