Hi ~ Anyone still remember me ?? If not, I'm not surprised...I know, I haven't been around lately...sorry. Thanks to my oldest, lovely daughter, my computer was down most of the month of June...a terrible virus she picked up on Myspace...errrrrr
I'm doing really good ! I uploaded another picture of my new baby locks. They are still small (almost 2 inches), but at least they are growing...and NO more hat for me. I stopped wearing it over a month ago. I figured people were staring at me wearing the hair so I might as well take it off (and be comfortable) and have them stare at me with a little bit of hair...which they do. I'm sure they are trying to figure out why a woman would want such "short" hair. Oh well, at least I have some ! It's not really long enough for a style so it just lays there. I don't know what else to do with it. I'm sure someone with "hair talent" could give it a bit of a style. One thing is for sure...it's much cooler in this hot weather than long hair !!
Well, the summer has flown by and it so hard to believe the kids will be going back to school next Friday, August 1st...WOW !! We didn't take a vacation this year and I'm sad about that. I was looking forward to our planned week at the lake, but that didn't work out. Maybe next year. We've had a lot of cookouts with our friends and family and I've really enjoyed spending time with everyone. My biggest thrilled happened at Brittany's (my cousin Debbie's daughter)graduation party. Brittany graduated on a Friday night and Debbie was having a cookout party for her on Saturday with family and friends. So we get to her house and everyone is hanging around talking and getting ready to eat. Debbie makes an announcement, thanks everyone for coming, and asks me and her Aunt Marcia (who also just finished chemo for breast cancer) to go over to a table Debbie had decorated. She was celebrating us finishing chemo for heavens sake. I wanted to beat her !! In the midst of her speech, she said something to the effect, "and Cathy thinks I can't surprise her, but I think this will...and she opened her kitchen door, and out walks my DAD and Diane. Surprise wasn't even the word. I was speechless (I know...that never happened before!) and I'll I could do was cry...BIG, FAT tears !!! It was soooooo great seeing him and that was the surprise of a lifetime !! Diane said they had been planning that for two months. I don't know if y'all remember when I mentioned I should have a party when I finished chemo...well, they decide from then to come down and with Debbie's help they instigated a celebration behind my back...Steve didn't even know about it. Anyway, Thank you Dad, Diane, and Debbie for the wonderful surprise...even though I cried like a baby...and made some of the others crying...even men !!
My June doctor's appointment were moved to July...just a couple of weeks ago. I went to see Dr. Rudolph and Dr. Lebos. Both said things are looking good. They didn't really "do" anything. I can now get my medi-port removed, but I'm waiting the results from the genetic testing I had done a few weeks ago. I get the results back next Wednesday. If I do indeed have the gene for breast cancer, I will need to have my ovaries removed since that increases the likely hood of getting ovarian cancer. If I have to have that surgery, I want to remove the port at the same time...don't want to have two different surgeries when I can just combine the both !! I will let you know the results next week.
Hope everyone has had a great summer !! I'll make sure to stay in touch more frequent and keep adding new pictures !
See ya next week ~ God Bless !!
