My Story

Hello Family and Friends !

This journal is being made to keep you all updated on my journey with Breast Cancer.

I'm back by popular demand...well, at least by a couple of friends and family. I figured

you guys were sick of me...hogging the spot light and all for so long ! Thanks to those

of you who have checked in. I'm doing GREAT. It's amazing to me that this journey started

over a year ago this August. August was the "find", September was the biopsy and diagnoses,

October was the surgery, November was still in recovery, and December started chemo.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, I'm so thankful those days are OVER !! I still have a few minor

surgeries to do...put the bullseye on the targets (if you know what I mean...LOL) and have my

port removed from my chest...but I'm just not in the mood to have that done yet. And truth be told, I probably never will be, so eventually, I'll have to make myself do it.

You all know that the steroids made me gain weight during chemo...and here I was afraid I'd lose weight, HA. That still amazes me, but now I'm still left with an additional 30 pounds and it refuses to go anywhere.

The docs checked my thyroid and that was fine, and said that the chemo just pretty my stopped my

metabolism...well, great, now what ? Exercise he tells me will probably be what's needed to help start

it back up again. It's like now I can just look at food and gain a couple of pounds.

And my hair...oh brother, that's another story. I kept saying, "At least I have hair"...but I couldn't

say I had a hair-do, because it wouldn't "DO" anything. Now it's about 4" long (or should I say short), curly in the back and wavy on the sides and the top of my hair just pretty much lays on my head. But now it's finally long enough to run it through a straighten iron...thank goodness ! It makes all the difference. I just uploaded a picture taken at a friends house on Dec. 5. (check it out) I must say, if something happens to my iron, I don't think I'd leave the house...that's how horrible my hair looks without it straightened !

So now that I figured out what to do with my hair, I just have to figure out how to drop off all of these extra pounds. I have lost about 8 pounds in the past two months...and it hasn't been easy, but I am healthier for eating better. Now, to get the rest off, or should I say, more weight off, I'll have to start walking and exercising. When I went to my GNY doctor last month, she said she didn't think I'd ever see 120 again, and I'd be lucky to see the 130's...WHAT????? So maybe I'll be "Fat and Sassy" forever...but I sure hope NOT !! I have to be in my Step-sister's wedding in Maryland on Jan. 3rd, and I really wanted to have taken off more weight, but it just isn't happening, so I'll just have to burn the pictures...LOL !

I hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas filled with lots of love ! While it was a nice day, I must say I'm glad it's over. Now we can relax a bit before heading to my Dad's in a few days. I'll be soooo glad to see everyone !

I wish you all a very lovely, blessed, and Happy New Year ! I'm looking forward to seeing what the year ahead holds...only good things, I'm sure !!

I'll try not to wait another five months before posting again and uploading photo.

God Bless !!
