Thank you all for your prayers and support. Cassy has had a really tough time adjusting to her body. Her sleepless nights with overactive spasms have made it impossible to develop a daily routine. The only thing we can be sure of is that "something" will go wrong every day. There seems to be no rest from the agony of her reality of today.
Therapy is the priority for Cassy now. She has physical therapy at Kaiser in Lincoln twice a week, and we are going to SCI-Fit in Pleasanton on Saturdays for an intensive 2 hour full body workout. When Cassy is working her body she is the happiest. Tomorrow we are going to El Dorado Physical Therapy for an evaluation, in hopes of getting Cassy in their pool for therapy. Cassy's blood pressure has improved tremendously and she is able to sit up straight for long periods of time. Her goal is to be able to transfer herself in and out of a car. As soon as possible, she wants to trade the van in on a small car with hand controls. She wants to be able to drive herself, again!
Keep on praying for Cassy to get more mobility back. Both of her thumbs and one pinky can move ever so slightly.
Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District has been amazing. The word got out that I would have to go back to work in January and the employees so graciously gave more of their sick time to me. Now I am not scheduled to return to work until the second week of May (WOW)!
We are so fortunate to have both Erin and Shelbi Van Dusen come at 5:30 in the mornings to help take care of Cassy. They make it possible for her to get a hot shower before school. Thank goodness Cassy trusts them to do her make-up and hair as well.
Goodbye for now, Suzette Docherty (Cassy's mom)
