Thanks so much for checking in on our precious baby. Cassandra Noelle was born at 12:32 am on Christmas Eve via emergency c-section. She came into the world crying and has been a little fighter ever since! She weighed 1 lb 5.8 oz at birth and was 11 3/4" long. She was only 24 weeks, gestational age, making her almost 4 months early.

just call me slacker-mama....

you would think that 'summer break' would mean i had oodles of time to do important things like keep our friends and family updated on cassie et al... alas, this has not been the case for me! between completely separate therapies, follow-up doctor visits, home showings, and trying to get cleaning/cooking/shopping done with TWO little ones in tow at all times, it's been a bit crazy! and may i add that i'm starting to seriously question my commitment to bake all my bread, bagels, english muffins, cookies, tortillas, etc from scratch??? what was i THINKING? ha! actually, that's still going alright for now...

anyway, all is well. i ended up taking cassie in to see dr. zentz last week because her right eye was looking goopy and icky. he felt it was indicative of a sinus infection (not conjunctivitis) and prescribed an antibiotic. on the plus side, her ears looked blessedly clear and he feels we have the tubes to thank for that. we're thankful for the tubes for many reasons! like the fact that cassie will now...

say her letters!!!
say 'GO!'
say 'bye!'
say 'Envoy!' (don't ask me why saying the model name of my car took such a priority in her vocabulary... : ))

we are SO pleased with all the strides she has made! she is also working very hard on drinking from an open cup. she's made a lot of progress! our hope is that, like aidan, she is downright 'offended' by the sippy cup at age three and much prefers the open cup. we may have some late potty-trainers in this family, but we do great at ditching pacifiers and sippy cups! :D

other than that, things are moving right along. aidan starts his first summer camp next week and cassie starts the week after. i'll be sure to let you all know how THAT goes! i'm having a hard time picturing cassie doing real well following directions, but we'll see...

happy summer!
