WELCOME HOME!

I’m in tears, I’m so happy. Yesterday, had my 2nd infusion of Carboplatin to tackle the recurrence of primary peritoneal cancer. I’d been told to wait until after at least 2 infusions on this round before looking for improvement in my lab results. I also feared I’d have to skip yesterday’s infusion due to a bad cold I brought home from Amsterdam. But I was judged well enough for chemo; and, as always, blood was drawn before the infusion.

The PA just called with results. The benchmark CA125 tumor marker, which had gone from above-normal 44 in December to 215 in March and soared to 327 in April, was—ta-DAH!!!—down to 165 yesterday, after my 1st infusion last month. A promising sign!

Of course our sail, Vienna to Amsterdam, was fabulous. Doug & I both came home nursing bad colds, but it was worth it. If you’re my Facebook friend, you’ve already seen dribs & drabs about our trip. I plan to post some more photos soon; so should you have any interest, “friend” me on FB if you haven’t already. My FB nom de plume is Sea Town.

Great news and a great trip. Thanks for letting us "go along" on Facebook with your photos and posts. Sorry about the colds you brought back. Plenty of memories to review while resting up! So glad to see the CA125 is responding to the chemo.

Carole, what great news with your markers! I'm thinking it must have been Europe rather than the chemo that caused such a remarkable result. Of course chemo and prayer have their place, too. Keep celebrating!
