This was beautiful to read and inspiring to meditate upon.  Your journey of grieving yet with hope fills me with admiration for you and gratitude to our good and gracious God.  What a faithful and lovely person you are, inside and out.  May God continued to be glorified through your life.  We love you.

Marilyn,

I was moved by your account of the last year and you expressed it so well.  Your life has changed, but with your belief in God and the support of your family, you are moving on.

I think losing a spouse must be soooooo hard and my heart goes out to you.  It's wonderful that Greg, Lynee, Matt and your grandchildren are there for you.  I continue my prayers for you.

Love,

Hola Marilyn, Lynee and Matt, and Greg,
It was sure great to see all of you again and to spend Christmas day with you at Casa Buena and after, at your Pineda home. I felt so blessed to be part of your Christmas traditions. I don't know how people get through deep grief without God and family in the centre of their lives but you have been so blessed with both. Your grandkids so adore you, your children too, but your grandkids have a very special connection to you. Love just pours out of your heart. You are all truly a beacon of light for Christ.

We, in La Paz, all are awaiting your return and I know a whole bunch of Mexican kids who would love to see you again. By the way, did you get in the water with the whale sharks? Amazing, aren't they? Thank you for that beautiful update and you are always in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you. Barbara

Hello Marilyn,

Sounds like you have had a busy year - best way to survive grief.  I am so glad you have a supporting family.

It is amazing that it has almost been a year since Carl left us.  And yet, how we miss him!  I am so thankful that when I started Development for Tabor, Carl let me visit!  What a "newbee" I was!  And he was so kind and gentle.  We became acquainted in 2008 and we carried over our newly found friendship when I moved to the Alumni Office.

You and Carl gave so much for a piano that was needed by our Music Dept.  Our hearts are still amazed by your generosity.

We will not forget Carl, but we want to stay connected with you, Marilyn!  You are very special as the other half of a beautiful equation.  May you find peace in your heart this New Year as you find your new way.  Thank you, Lynee and Greg for being there for your mom.

Well, it's past the 9 month mark.
What birth have you seen in the light of a dearly loved one's death?

For me, I see the Spirit moving in your family to journey on.
I see the strength of shared suffering as my family deals with prolonged cancer in my Mom.
I also see the need and promise of our Risen Christ Who is the answer to "Where is Death's Sting?"
Wishing both our families good birthings even though labor pains can be so miserable.
Shalom.

Dearest Marilyn, Lynee and Matt, Gregory;

Well, it has been six months since Carl left you and ALL of us.  I had intended to send cards to each of you to arrive upon your doorstep on July 23rd......but tutoring has gotten the better of my time.  This is not an excuse but then lo and behold Lynee you listed the Caring Bridge site again this evening.  Soooooo what better location to tell each of you....YOU ARE IN MY THOUGHTS as you arrive upon this six month anniversary.

Marilyn--I am soooooo proud of you for making strong efforts in moving forward.  As I have seen you at different events you are ready to feel the hugs reached out to you.  Your willingness to share of some of your struggles, receptiveness to sharing, and allowing US, your chorale family/friends to welcome you with listening ears.  You are loved, admired, and wanted to remain apart of each of our lives.

Lynee and Matt, As I have watched your postings on FB with the joys of your kids--you are living the legacy Carl has taught you.  I admire your devotion of strong values in giving to others with mission trips, schooling/education, sharing in encouragement for lifelong development.  Life WILL get easier--but you will always remember the things you want/wanted to share with Dad.  Yet, he is always in your heart.  Believe in the fulfillment of the strong legacy he has left you.  When you want to "call" him put on one of your favorite recordings which connect you and his presence is there......you will smile and the world will be more fulfilled within your heart.  YOU are still loved by those of us here on earth who share that connection with you.

Gregory/Greg; I am soooooo excited for the man you have/are becoming.  Even though I was not here in Greeley when you were a young page for the Madrigal Feaste--I have heard many a story and feel the ultimate connection that you are indeed the Chorale's Favorite Son!!  Every time we hear you sing, hear of a role you have, or see your presence I/we celebrate.  While in Greece watching Carl with every note you sang was absolutely wonderful.  I am sooooooo blessed to know you, admire your talent, and can't wait to have an opportunity to share in your next role.  Have a fabulous time in Crested Butte since it is such a beautiful location.  I hear through your mom---you have arrived with having your very own condo!! Pretty cool to have your own homestead while you are performing.

I loved the GREAT greeting at the Choralfest in Denver of the Dvorak Requiem under Skinner's baton.  Thanks for the joy you have brought to my life!!!

TO ALL OF YOU: Though Carl, Dad, Grandpa, Musician, has gone on to heaven, he has left each of us with insights which have touched our hearts for a lifetime.  I wouldn't trade the tears I have shared through each of the experiences of joy or sorrow for anything.  The emotions I have personally experienced from him have given me inspiration, love, and caring for my fellow human beings.  Carl is a person who left his footprints on my soul with hearfelt experiences in huge ways.  YOU, his family continue to be a legacy of his love.

Thank you for being special people.  Continue moving forward, praying for guidance, and know I will continue cheering for each of you. Yes, I will continue to think of him with every Corvette I see, as well as the many gestures I think of as I think of his conducting, interpretations, and words.  As I write this, I smile remembering different conversations and hugs through the years.
Love always,
Connie
