Camryn’s Story

Site created on September 18, 2014

Hello to all,

This is Kelly, Camryn’s mom and we have had many requests for updates on Camryn’s health and treatment plans so we have started this Caring Bridge Website to make it easier for us to keep people informed.  The updates will be posted as we attend doctors’ visits, receive test results and have hospitalizations. It may not be very frequent posts but the updates will help to keep everyone informed.  If anyone chooses to send us cards of encouragement, prayers or support then please send the cards to 2400 Austin Road Owatonna, MN 55060.

Camryn is a beautiful 4-year old who has definitely faced her share of challenges. Throughout the past 4 years, Camryn has been a trooper through endless tests, MRI’s, lab draws, etc. Throughout all of the genetics testing, the doctor’s couldn’t determine a specific reason why she is as unique as she is. Her initial diagnosis was Cerebral Palsy, Scoliosis (curvature of the spine), and Hypotonia (low muscle tone). In December 2016, Camryn was diagnosed with Epilepsy (seizure disorder) and Cerebellar Atrophy (shrinking of the brain). Since then, Camryn has steadily declined. Unfortunately, the Cerebellar Atrophy is a terminal diagnosis; her most recent MRI showed more progression. Camryn has been hospitalized 5 times in the past year for seizure management, g-tube placement (feeding tube because she wasn’t able to eat on her own anymore), and hospitalized due to a respiratory virus. Camryn is the sweetest child you will ever meet…she has the most precious smile that will just melt your heart.

Journal entry by Kelly Krause

Nick and I, along with both of our parents, would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone! The support that we received the last few days from friends, family, co-workers and CaringBridge followers was unbelievable! We just want everyone to know how grateful we are for everything that everyone has done for all of us! We just can’t say thank you enough!

On a side note... did anyone leave this coat at Camryn’s visitation?
