    Our Sweet Camden,

One year ago today you came home with us from the hospital.  I must say that June 23, 2008 goes on the list as one of my favorite days in my life thus far.  I’m so grateful for this year and all that I’ve learned from you.  God has shown your father and me a life that we embrace daily.  We are so thankful that he gave us such an incredible and inspiring child that is so easy to love.  You have made such a difference in our lives and in the lives of so many others. When you get older and are able to read these journal and guestbook entries I hope that it humbles your heart and that you repay your respects by praying for others as so many strangers have prayed for you and your family.

We’ve learned so much from you this year Camden.  You prefer not to eat peas.  You love bananas, carrots and applesauce!  You love to swing, dance, jump and flap your arms as if you were flying.  You love to look at the lights.  You like to see them turn off and turn back on again.  You LOVE bath time.  You didn’t always but you warmed up to it.  You love to splash in the tub and in the pool.  You love to sing and to be heard.  If someone isn’t paying attention to you, you do what you must to make yourself heard!  You love your Praise Baby DVDs.  Your Mom and Dad love your Praise Baby DVDs.  You don’t like to be on a schedule.  You love to sit at the computer with me.  Your favorite thing to play with has been your Rainforest play mat and your piano.  You prefer to have a toy to play with when having your diaper changed. You like to bite!!! You love to be outside.  You love to drive in your car down to your Granny and GGs!  You love your being with your family.  You light up when your dad walks in the front door and you can’t wait for him to acknowledge you.  You don’t like to be alone unless you are watching your Praise Baby DVDs.  You don’t like to fall asleep by yourself. You wake up with a smile on your face almost every day.  Coming to get you out of your crib is my favorite part of the day.  Seeing your smile does so much to my heart.  Thank you so much for those smiles.  After you wake up, if you don’t have food in your belly soon you become very cranky and impatient.  You are an excellent traveler.  You’ve been to Dallas on many occasions and to Corpus Christi twice.  You do NOT like loud noises.  You scream when you hear vacuum, hair dryer, blender, etc.   You’ve gone to the NICU to visit your nurses and doctor 3 times since you left, including today.  They are all so proud of how far you’ve come.   Even though she makes you work hard, you enjoy your time with your physical therapist every Tuesday.  Her name is Jenn and it didn’t take long before you stole her heart.

You laugh all the time, sometimes at yourself but mostly at us.  We’ll make whatever sort of faces or noises we have to make or imitate you and your expressions to hear you laugh.  After watching you battle for your life for over 3 months, hearing your laugh seems like treatment for our heartache of being helpless during that battle.

Every day that we get to be with you feels like a gift.  I’ve seen you everyday of your life and the first day that I don’t get to will be very hard for me.  This first year with you and your dad has been the best year of my life.  It’s been scary, exhausting, fun, stressful, exciting and an adventure but I wouldn’t trade this year with the wealthiest person in the world. You and your dad have made my life so rich with love that I’m so glad and honored that God chose us to all be together.  What a blessing!!!

We love you so much! We will marvel in watching God’s plan for you.

As you read Psalms 139, you’ll know as we do that God had the lives of all of us planned before we were born.

“O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thought from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in – behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too lofty for me to attain.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Here can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, id I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, you right hand will hold me fast.

“If I say, ‘surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalms 139:1-16

Thank you so much for bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives.  You are uniquely made and one of God’s greatest miracles and masterpieces and we couldn’t be prouder of you.

    All our love,

    Mom & Dad

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and continued support during the last 15 months.  There are no words that can express how grateful we are.

    TO ALL!

I meant to get on here last week and send out an invite but Cam has been sick with yet another tummy bug since Wednesday. He's feeling better now but I wasn't sure if I was going to need to cancel his birthday plans. I don't know if it was due to teething or if he actually picked up a virus. David and I didn't get sick this time so it could have just been teething but regardless, it was a long week of dirty diapers and some serious diaper rash. Something I'm sure every parent experiences.

As you may know Camden is turning 1 on Friday!!!! I know! I can't believe it's already here either!

We've decided to have Open House that day. Anyone (who's not sick or carrying a cootie) is more than welcome to stop by on Friday to see us. Expect to be handed sanitizer when you walk in. : ) David and the Gents have a game on Friday evening so David will be leaving that afternoon to go to work but we'll be hanging around the house playing with some new toys and eating some cake. We plan to take Cam to visit the WKS NICU staff Friday morning to bring them a little treat (other than Cam, of course). But our house is open to guests from Noon until 8. Cam will be napping sometime during those hours or maybe not since he is having cake. Who knows what to expect? No presents are necessary and all (who don't have cooties) are welcome.

It's been a scary, fun, hard, exciting, nail biting, blessing of a year and we'd love to share this milestone with all of you who prayed for us and Thank you in person. I'll be uploading new pictures this weekend so stay tuned...

    God Bless...

If you are interested in stopping by on Friday...

You can reach me for our address at either:
